    Thanks for clearing that up.
I’m used to having to deal with receptionists afore I can get professional advice. As someone said. report that person. They may be following protocol but those protocols are not fit for purpose. Imo.

But that person was being Bureaucratic. Doesn’t always apply to senior management.

    Bureaucracy
over-concerned with procedure at the expense of efficiency or common sense.

The mental health care system as you say is woefully under funded. I've suffered with mental health issues for years and have had to wait some time to access counselling services. This is no reflection on the actual service themselves as that was first class. This pandemic has pushed people's mental health to its very limits - more are suffering but there is very little help. It needs major funding.

I know others have offered help through PM - you can add me to the list too. It's something I've always liked about this board- strangers seem to really care!

If a person is deemed not to be engaging with services then dependant on presentation and risk factors a decision will be made whether to continue with that service or not. There really isn't much of a bureaucratic element to this.

Until social care in this country is taken seriously it'll never get better. The problem with social care is it's a nice little earner for big private companies. Governments of all colours haven't addressed it. Mental Health provision will never be a big earner, it's hard work and needs lots of money thrown at it. All governments have failed to adequately understand the link between a healthy mind a healthy body, or just simply ignored it. CBT early can change alot of outcomes, medication works (I know it helps me daily), but when someone has a blip access to someone immediately would stop folk from sinking into something alot more serious and dangerous.

Thank you all for the support. I’m very lucky in that I have a superb family support network and a couple of great friends who came round after we were discharged yesterday when the mental health team refused.

The mental health team seem to have finally decided to do something today, 24 hours after we needed it most, so fingers crossed it makes a difference.

Good luck and best wishes to you, Gravy Chips, your wife and family. Without doubt, you're one of the friendliest, funniest contributors on here and it's heartbreaking to hear of your personal problems.
All the best, old mate. You certainly deserve for something to go in your favour for once.

So very sorry to hear about your dear wife GC. Obviously it's a very testing time and the restrictions
due to the pandemic can't be helping either of you. Have to agree regarding the gradual run down
of mental health support services. My dear Sister had an operation and it was noticeable that afterwards
for some reason she started to encounter mental health issues in that she had a total nervous breakdown.

The solution as far as the specialist were concerned, was to pump her full of medication that stopped her
from functioning as a human being re- she was in a stupor 24/7 to the point that my brother in law advised
us not to go and visit her because we would be upset to see her in that condition.

Thankfully, she eventually made a full recovery and now when she opens up and talks about that period of
her life, she admits, that she can't remember a single thing and that it was the loving care of her husband
son and friends that helped her to recover and not the efforts of her so called expert medical advisors.

Thank you for your kind words. I love this board, I find it much friendlier than social media groups etc and it’s always the first and last thing I check in my day

I know I'm a pompous, thick, old poster, but this board has been a Godsend at times for me. Both for this particular year and in years past for my family.
