I don’t think he’ll leave, but he needs to further his game. Tbf he admitted that in the programme the other week. But let’s be fair - Schmidt was signed for the role he does - but the team plays in a completely different way. Not the player’s fault. Leave Schmidt in the box all the time, and he’ll do well. Out of that, he’s still learning.
Fair comments and I've certainly got nothing against him but I can still see him being moved on when we can bring in replacements. I just don't think he suits how we play.
Said it before with schmidt he can finish a chance in the box but apart from that he hasnt got a shot from distance that can beat a keeper, he cant beat a defender, he isn't big or strong enough to win a aerial battle with a defender, he doesnt hold the ball up well. The problem with him is we cant afford a passenger for 90minutes in the hope a ball drops to his feet in the box. Behind woodrow,victor and chaplin. Yup. The Millwall and Forest goal, along with the Brentford assist pays for his fee alone. I get the frustration - but it’s not the lad’s fault. He’s being asked to play a style he’s never done. The pressing game isn’t for everyone - takes a lot to do it. Can he do it? Maybe not - doesn’t make him a bad striker though. Could Peter Crouch play the pressing game? Nope. But would you have signed him in his prime? Absolutely.
