I seem to remember a few years ago we were in a similar situation and the second half of the season was a total disaster and we barely won a game. I hope we don't have another one of those !
50 will be more than enough this season in my opinion for various reasons. I reckon 46-47 at most, maybe even less.
Aren’t we flirting with the play-offs now? Or at least exchanging glances across the room with them, which is a nice change. We have the same number of points now as we had at the start of the lockdown, 37 games in. Six teams are averaging less than a point a game so I agree with Merde Tete, the high 40’s should be enough this year to avoid relegation. Hardly anyone is consistent and anyone seems to be able to beat anyone, so if we keep playing as we are we should be top half at worst, which all of us would have settled for at the start of the season and we’d have killed for after seven games.
The next four games will tell us a lot about what we can expect for the rest of the season. If we can come out of that lot with even 4 or 5 points we’ll have done really well. We don’t look anything like a top 8 side to me but I’m delighted we are where we are. A good strong, pacy striker is a necessity for the system we play. Vic has done well but is very limited at this level. Honestly think we’ll end up somewhere between 12th and 15th.
