Be surprised if he signs a contract now. Personally I’d of used the money we used to sign Kane in the summer to improve his wages. Seems daft were probably going to lose our captain someone who’s proven at championship level on a free. He’s pretty much injury free and only 25 aswell.
Difficult to say without knowing what he’s been offered. If he’s been offered the same as Woodrow, or even slightly more and he turns it down then there’s not much we can do.
Not worth breaking the bank for, only shows glimpses of quality every now and then. Mid to lower championship squad player.
I’ve always thought he would sign but I’m not so sure now with it dragging on. If he does leave I could possibly see him staying local and going to Huddersfield maybe. I very much want him to stay though. He is our driving force and captain, not sure why anyone wouldn’t want him to stay in all honesty.
A lot of folk mapping out the lads future when they probably don`t know how their own is going to go at the moment . I would wait as long as possible to see how things pan out. We have a new manager and are in the same league as last season since folks were saying he should sign or go. Things change 3/4 months ago Victor was been got rid of by most, now it looks like he maybe a squad player worth keeping. Most thought we were nailed on for League One before lockdown.
I don't think we'll sell Mowatt because he'll want to run his contract out and be a free agent in the summer. Seems to be the in thing these days as his agent will be looking to make more money. The money we could make on him would end up in his own pocket in the Summer via signing on fees, wages and incentives. Players and agents have all the power and thats the unfortunate fact of football.
Where did you conjure up those figures from??? That’s more than we got for Winnall and Hourihane combined.
Players come and go. I'd sell providing we can find an adequate replacement. Left back, Whiteman and one wide forward and target man would do for me.
Winnall’s fee was widely reported as £500k (I believe we received less). Hourihane and Bree went for a combined £3 million, of which Bree supposedly accounted for £2.5 million.
I get the feeling he will do the same. If the past is anything to go by, then this board will sell him if he refuses to sign or isn’t likely to sign an extension. We will get a better idea by the end of this window From things I’ve heard, the lad loves it here and would want to stay if the club matches his ambitions. He’s also recently bought a place between Barnsley and Donny so read into that what you will.
Horihane allegedly went for 3million thought bree was 2million and we got another million when villa were promoted and both had sell ons. The fee for winnall was poor but he forced the move and was disruptive to the group apparently. I think if he hadn't got the bad injury on loan at derby Wednesday would have sold him to derby and we would have got some money back in sell on for winnall too but that didn't happen.
We got 3millon alone for conor source here https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-complete-3million-deal-9697062.amp Bree left earlier than conor we got around 2million for bree both with add ons
"Of" is a preposition not a verb. The verb is "to have". In this instance "I'd of" should be "I would have....". It can of course be shortened to "I'd have..." I do however, agree with you that it is unlikely that Mowatt will sign a new contract. The lure of the lucre will be too great to ignore, and who can blame him.
As much as I like Mowatt, I'm not sure how many teams there are in this division that will pay him much more than we will offer, and give him as much game time. In normal circumstances, once his contract is up, he should be in a good position to negotiate a reasonable signing on fee, although I'm not sure how COVID is going to further effect team's spending. He may find that staying with us and continuing to play regularly may be more beneficial to him, in the current climate.
He's edging his bets. He'll be waiting to see who we sign this month and who departs etc. He'd be daft not to. He's 25 and his next move will be his big one. It's a bit like the Hourihane situation only he isn't that level. There in lies the problem. He might leave here only to make a sideways move to a Huddersfield, QPR, Cardiff City or Forest.
