I recognise Spud Murphy and Eric Winstanley. I think that must be Jimmy Robson up front, but will need some of the older boys for the rest
Big Eddie Loyden at number nine partnered by ex-Cardiff Norman Dean number eight. I remember being excited when we signed Dean because he had played in European competition for the Bluebirds. That was only because they had won the Welsh Cup though
So him make his debut at Southend (if I remember correctly), now that was a ramshackle place then, it was ringed with Riddley tins we were banging on them to make a bit of noise when a section fell down.
2nd April 1977, was at Haig Avenue to see us lose 1-0. We got a corner near the end and a certain Neil Warnock came over to take it. I was stood with me sta-press keks, Ben Sherman round collared flowery shirt, fawn coloured corduroy jacket and a bar scarf tied round each wrist. Oh, and hair down to me shoulders. I was stood right on the corner and screamed at him "Neil...attack..attack...attack!!! He looked at me as he was placing the ball, and snapped "What the *** do you think we're doing!" Great days
Brian Raggett. He lived in Mapp didn't he. I remember him l around '71-'72 , joining in the matches during games lesson with Mr. Goodall. Mr. Goodall......now there was a truly great guy.
Those were the days, when you could walk round to the Kop at haf-time, although me and mi dad used to walk from one side of the paddock to the other side, more or less level with the 18 yard box.
Just have to boot the ball in the general direction of the opposition goal and it goes in. Been watching 10 minutes and no one has managed to pass to a team mate yet, for either side.
