    They won't have to.

Fair points but I think Brentford would tempt him. History would suggest he would want to go.

I don't see how this goes any other way. there's literally no example of us ever doing what people are suggesting. if a bid comes in from a team offering to double / treble his salary, he'll be handing in a transfer request. then pressure starts piling on the club to sell. £5m + 25% sell on and he'll be off. then Brentford will sell him on for at least 3x that. it's how it goes.

Depends on your definition of prime. Not the worst place, but 25 years in London, I would never have lived out there. :)

We've never been in such a good position as with Styles. He's a hugely influential player, scoring goals, multi positional, starting to get assists, great engine, tenacious and tracks back and has excellent technique. He's still very young and is only going to get better with games and experience.

He has 3.5 years left on contracts (with option) and we have no pressure to sell. (We've brought in around £4m from Brown and Struber). If we were, it makes no sense to sign 2 new players.

The player may ask for a transfer. Tough. The agent may talk up a move and get press talk going. Fine, but still tough. The only reason to sell is if a huge offer comes in that allows the squad to be rewarded for their development to keep them longer, and/or better quality replacements to be brought in.

This approach makes or breaks on the best talent being sold for true market value and not below. The lower value more regular sales just offset the failures and players we have to write off. So it's vital we get an absolutely huge fee, or we get the benefit of Styles ourselves and just keep saying no.

I definitely wouldn't consider Brentford prime. I wouldn't even really call it London.

    Agree entirely.

Every player we are quick to sell, or don’t get full value, the more likely other players are going to want to leave as well.

The chap who has made the loans has, ironically, made his wealth from gambling. He also owns the club so not like a typical third party debt .

I think it’s a Twickenham postcode. If QPR sold up, the land would be worth 3-4 times more. A bit further south west & you’d be talking mega bucks. No disrespect to Brentford, but relatively speaking, it’s the nicer bit of Cudworth. On the world’s busiest flight path..:)

Yep what happens with Styles defines the next few years for the club sell cheap nothings changed and lessons haven't been learned at Board level. Hold out for full value and replace or just don't sell and the board show they've learned. Personally I think even considering the possibility of losing Mowatt and Styles after not extending James would be utter madness but unfortunately the board have previous.

I go to, well, used to in more normal times, Kew Gardens quite a bit which is just round the corner from their new ground and it's absolutely shoe horned in. Rail tracks scything one edge of a stand off at a funny angle and the other side, the busy road out to the M4. There's a lot of flats built around, so I don't know if they have a stake in those for either sale or rent. if so, a very canny move. Some gorgeous houses on the Thames path leading up to Kew Bridge (though they are a bit prone to high tides!) with loads of history. One of my favourite walks, Hammersmith to Kew.

I wonder why that didn't happen to Whiteman at Doncaster? Is it only our club that has to sell if the player insists? Just asking.

So that's 2 rumours in 2 days that have convinced some of us we are selling them both. At this rate we will have sold all the first team squad by Jan 31st - according to rumours that is !

Do Woodrow and Mowatt still play for Barnsley? Could have sworn the owners were going to cash in at the first offer last January and then again this Summer ........

To be fair, I think most of the debate is whether it would be wise to sell or not, rather than talking as if they have already gone.
