Story in the Yorkshire Post - seems like it's true that the board are still looking for a ground share. Absolutely disgusting. Let's not let our form distract us: we need these owners out ASAP! https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...ut-ground-share-plan-new-york-stadium-3101416
Click bait 101. It’s a story about a story from last year. Not a single thing in there is new news to us is it?
I think this is some sort of bargaining ploy to get the Crynes to back down over the cash they owed. "Lower the amount or we take Barnsley FC to Timbuktu".
Hope you're right but I don't think I agree - Leon Wobschall reporting it as late last year. Suggests this is an ongoing issue
I forget we’re in 2021! Late last year to me would mean a year ago. Otherwise you’d say something like ‘just a few weeks ago’ or ‘Only last month’ to enhance the immediate ness of it.
We all hope that is the situation. However, we won’t be surprised really if this lot did move us to another town. It’ll be the end of my emotional attachment with the club if such a thing ever happened. Let’s hope it is used as a scare tactic only.
I can't see it being the year before because didn't the 'owners' claim they only discovered any issues surrounding the land in 2020 so why contact Rotherham in 2019?
Im pretty sure its a scare tactic to try and reduce the rent on Oakwell - but no point making threats you arent prepared to go through with though it could have serious consequences if they do - no real issue whilst we cant go to games but I doubt too many will renew if we move to Rotherham - I wouldnt and my Dad said the same thing last night and I am sure they would lose a lot more revenue from fans than they gain on rent savings
Don't want our club using bully boy tactics though. And in all honesty, they seem a bit crap at doing it!
No you’re right. I’m just saying that ‘late last year’ is a strange turn of phrase less than two weeks in to a new year. Automatically makes you mind go further back in my opinion.
Fully agree with this. It's not a good look at all. We have a home. The Crynes openly said they were still willing to sell despite the Conway et al missing the 6 month option and there doesn't seem to be anything thats changed in terms of costs from when the buyers should have fulfilled their due diligence.
There's always something. If we're not spending 313 days in the relegation zone, we're trying to move to Rover'um. Can we not just be, you know, normal, for a bit, and stress-free? #clubslikebarnsley
It’s a journalist wanting readers so late last year could be September, which is when the story came out about Lancashire, and is the last quarter of the year. Who knows, but I think this is old news being dug up because of social media rumours.
Perhaps the supporters trust could enquire into these rumours that are appearing and ascertain the timeline of events and intentions of the owners?
