Morris came on and they said he seems to be carrying a bit of timber or words to that effect. Didn't see alot of him but looked ok for a first start. Thought Victor did quite well but his close control let's him down.
Pah. Commentators always said Gascoigne and Le Tissier carried too much timber and it did them no harm. I thought he showed some promising signs (running at players) without being involved that much.
His first touch and close control have improved markedly since the game at Derby, if he continues to improve he'll be some player.
I thought Vic had his best game for us yesterday especially 1st half, maybe having Morris on the bench got another 20% out of him...
lee hendrie he talks absolute nonsense, never forget that game against walsall when brown scored a last minute winner and obviously been a Midlands lad he seemed to have some soft spot for walsall. When brown scored I thought he was going to cry.
Victors close control was poor a few games ago. I thought it was much improved yesterday - definitely the best he has played when starting. Id start him with Woodrow and Morris next game
Victors close control has been improving steadily, yet folks still come out with the same ***** as Mark Crossley says on commentary. No one mentions Woodrow`s poor first touch or Freisers or Chaplins or Mowatts or Kanes or James`s when he was here. We play a lot of one touch stuff in close areas with passes carrying a lot of pace which makes control and accuracy of pass harder. Long balls up to the front man are met with a nudge or push in the back which makes control harder, Woodrow has suffered from this for a few seasons and he gets very little help off refs who seem to have him down as a whinger.
Yes, we should be trying to extend his contract and offload a few of the other masses of 20yo forwards we have. Not sure it will happen though
