How long before the powers that be give up on them like the RFU did with lifting at line-outs. If you can't stop it, make it legal! As long as part of the foot is on the line (even if it's the heel) then it's ok.
It’s not difficult to stop though is it, so why didn’t we do that. I bit more on field thought wouldn’t go amis. When Macker was chucking them in during the 80’s, the other side just put a man directly on the line. Stops the forward momentum - though I do recall Mick nutting one player in the early days!
And whose interpretation of rule 15 are you taking? "Must have part of each foot on the touchline or on ground outside the touchline". Therefore both feet MUST be on the ground. The fact that it states that the feet can be on or behind the touchline suggests they can't be over the line. If any part of the foot was over the last be I would suggest it's a foul throw.
https://talksport.com/football/523746/everton-vs-arsenal-goal-disallowed-digne-foul-throw/amp/ This should cover it. As long as some of his foot is touching the line, it doesnt matter if he as skis for feet, if his heel is touching it's fine...
Well if that's the way they are applying it now I can't wait for players to stand on the pitch with their heels on the line and see what happens.
Haven’t read the FA Referees Chart for years now since I packed in Refereeing, but it used to say on or behind the line. Another to throw in here (pun intended) It seems more and more goalkeepers are carrying the ball beyond the 18 yard line when kicking it out of their hands.
I'd get rid of throw-ins altogether and have the restart by foot but add a rule that the ball must be kicked backwards
think there should be a 5 long throws only rule inside opposition half per match, how much time did they waste ambling back and forth across the pitch to take them
what about a rule that no one on the team who is taking the throw can move or show for the ball, oh sorry Barnsley already playing that rule
Its not just the foot thing either, there have been a lot well dodgy looking ones when players are trying to get the ball to somebody really close
There's quite a few rules that fans insist they know, but don't really. The other main one is the position of the ball from a corner. Always makes me chuckle when the Ponty goes nuts as an opposition player has the ball outside the 'D' but just overhanging the line a fraction (perfectly legal).
what do you do if you've got a "throw in" next to the corner flag though? only thing you'd be able to do is concede a corner lol
