    That can’t be right with al the moaning that is posted on here. Otherwise we would be in the premiership, Barnsley would be be a COVID free zone and Supertyke would be PM

    Just read the data/commentary and it’s based on a negative test on admission, but then a positive test during admission, from what I can tell. Which has to suggest people are contracting Covid from within the hospital?

    This would also be in line with the graphs I was sharing earlier I think. Overall December isn’t as bleak as we’re being led to believe by the media

    Get that. But to have a five year average you have to have a high year and a low year. What the graph I shared showed was that we're not far away, and in some weeks under, the five year high - when you would expect it based on media coverage and public opinion to be exponentially higher than any year in the last five.

    You've then got other factors like population growth to consider. But to counter that you've got life expectancy increasing. Essentially I'm just suggesting it isn't as black and white as some people come on here and suggest.

    Deaths throughout December were 20% minimum up on the previous 5 years. Increases in population haven't gone anywhere near that amount. The extra deaths in December were significant and January is looking horrific.

    The population of the UK is believed to have *fallen* by over 1 million in 2020 - mainly non-UK born citizens who were out of work due to Covid going home. We won't know for certain until later this year - and possibly not 100% until when the census results are published.

    But you're comparing to the five year average mate. I'm just pointing out that based on the graph I shared up the thread from PHE, total deaths all causes for December isn't the highest in the last five years.
