He signed his deal and became captain too. That might have notched it up a few quid.

Need to get some shooting boots. Great passer and dribbler on his day. Wish him well.

Liked him me. He gets the 'soft' tag but not all midfielders need to get 'stuck in'. The midfield should be a mixture. The best midfield contains pace, tackling, going forward, tracking back, scoring, creating, defending and if one player can do it all then he wouldn't be playing for us.

Good luck to the man with 3 first names..... Mike Steven Barry you've got 3 first names.

Ineffective yes but good on the ball and skillful - not sure what his best position was

I liked him and he showed a lot of promise but ultimately for whatever reason never really delivered on it, can't disagree with the decision to let him move on. Wish him well.

I liked Mike and thought on his day he was class and had an exquisite first touch, unfortunately he wasn’t consistent at this level. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up, I will still keep his signed shirt on the wall at home.....

    Shame, I liked him.

Interesting that from our most successful transfer window ever 18 months ago and the 12 permanent signings we made... only 2 are currently regular starters (Chaplin and Andersen). 4 have gone already. One was loaned out to 2 clubs without playing much (Sibbick.. though i do think there is a player there), one has just gone out on loan (Thomas) and Oduor, Schmidt and Halme don't seem to be in the coaches immediate plans.

I liked him. He started when we won 3 nowt at Fulham before lockdown. Had a solid match. His demise is an odd one imo. Not really sure what he did not to deserve a bit more of a chance.

Mike Bähre was a Daniel Stendel signing. Neither Gerhard Struber or Valérien Ismaël wanted to use him. So either we continued to pay him not to play, or we mutually agree to terminate the contract, saving the club money and allowing the player an easier route to a new club. Common sense approach.

Bähre played his part in our promotion and last season's survival. A top bloke but unfortunately, and he'd admit it himself, there's not a chance that he would thrive playing within Val's system. That's not a slight on him, and certainly not on Ismaël. It's football.

The likes of Simoes and Thomas are still under contract for a couple more years, weren't getting regular football, and will now be playing regular games at clubs chasing promotion in the league below. Makes absolute sense, again.

If - when COVID arrived and the country went into lockdown, with us bottom of the league and well adrift of safety - someone had said that 11 months later we'd be 11th in the same division, despite losing money by the bucketload, key players and another coach, I'd have snapped their hand off. And it's HUGE credit to our supporters who have backed the club financially through these most testing of times. It has allowed the club to continue and get to where we are now.

    All in it together.

I know the world's doom and gloom a lot, naturally after the last year, but BFC has been a shining light in this period. Enjoy it. The woe and misery will no doubt return in the future, because it's still BFC and for much of our existence, we've had little to shout about.

    Or summat.

As long as there's loads of money to pay everyone off them I'm fine with it.

What was left on his contract and was he over his injury or still crocked?
