I see Reading losing at Watford on Friday, and draws for Brentford (Preston away), Swansea (Millwall away) and ourselves (Boro home). I expect Bournemouth to beat Coventry at home. So? 3rd Brentford 71 points GD 26 4th Swansea 70 points GD 14 5th Barnsley 69 points GD 8 6th Bournemouth 68 points GD 24 7th Reading 66 points GD 11 Brentford, Swansea and Bournemouth would have a game in hand over ourselves and Reading. Brentford still have to go to Bournemouth and Swansea to Reading. Nail-biting time!
It’s Bournemouth’s to lose really, think they’ll be too much for all the teams in play off contention.
Aye, and just thinking about those weekend games - if Reading lose away at Watford on Friday we will still be in the top six Saturday evening whatever happens, having played the same number of games as Reading!
Well I will say this. When you look at the Table, there's not a lot of mileage for Colin coming and playing for a draw!
I can't see Preston getting anything against Brentford to be honest. Millwall could beat Swansea though with their respective forms.
the great thing for me is that 3rd and 4th have been hauled back. what had been 2 spots between 3 teams for quite a while, is now 4 between 5. gonna be tough for the team that misses out. phenomenal end to the season.
Agree. Millwall could also get something against Brentford next week as well. And I'm hoping Cardiff react well to hitting rock bottom in their last game, as they play a few of the top 7 in the next few weeks. I think 3 points against Boro would be massive. Would be great if we could still be in the top 6 before we even kick off against Coventry on the Sunday.
eh? we've no chance of automatic. are you saying if we don't go up automatic you wouldn't want us to make the play offs?
The most points to not make the playoffs is apparently 78, which wolves got a few years ago. There’s potential of that record being troubled - though I suspect 78 points will be enough
Not for me, old mate. Give me this sort of 'pressure' any season over those where we've been battling against relegation. Even if we just fail to make the Play Offs, we've had our best campaign at this level for twenty one years, no matter how disappointed we may all initially feel. I don't doubt some will still complain, but I'll not be one of them and they certainly don't speak for me.
After the run we’ve had this year, I’d be disappointed if we don’t make the playoffs, mostly I’d be gutted for the players who have shown an incredible work rate. But I’d still be proud of what they’ve achieved. And definitely wouldn’t be upset or feel there was something to complain about.
I don't think that's strictly true. We were superb in that second half but I still can't figure out how they weren't 3-1 up before it went to 2-2 with Collins being caught in complete no man's land (was it three times we were fortunate?). You make your own luck in football though and that was evident in a couple of moments in that game. Deserved winners but wasn't plain sailing.
