Any strong fancies boys and girls? I like McFabulous in the Aintree Hurdle. Plenty of these are stepping up from two miles, and this intermediate trip is bang on for my lad. No idea what happened last time out, but I fancy him to reverse form with Brewin. Likes the ground. Latenightpass in the Foxhunters is a decent bet also. Led to just before the last at Cheltenham, this drop in trip will be bang on. Front runners do well over the big fences and hopefully he keeps out of trouble. Miss Lamb in the last is decent value too. Finished second behind the odds on fav last time and with a 5lb pull she must have a decent chance of running well at 16s. Don't like the first two races and The Bowl is a trappy affair. Maybe Mister Fisher might be the one.
Good enquiry, while we wait for Saturday, Fonzie! I have to say that I find the Aintree Hurdle an insoluble puzzle. I think you can pick holes in the form of every one of the eleven runners. If I was forced to make a selection I think I'd go with arguably the most reliable (but possibly not the best) of these, which I take to be Silver Streak. But my confidence in him is not such that I'd want to bet in the race. I've looked the Doom Bar Hurdle up and down trying to find an alternative to Monmiral. But try as I might I can't make a plausible case for anything else in the race. His ability to act on quicker ground has to be taken on trust, but at Evens as I type, he is probably over-priced. The Betfair Bowl is interesting for those you could arguably exclude. Native River would want softer ground, and for all his exploits I don't think Tiger Roll is really up to this class at this distance. Waiting Patiently is a serial disappointer. So to my mind that leaves Clan Des Obeaux as the most likely to be suited by the flat track, the distance and the prevailing going. After a light campaign he is likely to be spot on for this, and I would make him a fairly confident bet. On any rational form argument Cloth Cap can be the only foreseeable winner of the big one on Saturday if you're brave enough to take 4/1 in a National!
No particular comments by me other than I shall be looking for place value with one or two of the following ...Tomorrow's card - 1.45 Eldorado Allen 2.20 Adagio 2,50 Clondaw castle 3,25 Song For Someone 4.05 Billaway/Dashing Perk 4.40 Dostal Phil 5.15 ??? Some of these will be worth a bet depending on place market tomorrow morning.... Cheers. I'll examine Cloth Cap's stats later Mr Kaht as I know you like him
Big hit for the economy here - Ladies day is something else! Hairdressers open at 5 in the morning lol
@La 'Ladies' days are sexist crap and should be done away with. Encourages stereotypes. I'm all in favour of 'Come in your best dressed' for everyone but I hate ladies days.
I'm the same kid it's racing that interests me, they come on the T.V. that Grok Wok or whatever they call him and some woman walking around "ho isn't that a lovely hat" what a load of Bolox
Yep its like Miss Universe an that got taken off for being too sexist. Some of the horses are sexier though. How about Mister Malarkey for the National?
Clear top-rated on Timeform and Racing Post ratings Stays 4 miles Acts on any going Is carrying 14 lbs less than his official handicap mark having been reassessed since the National weights were published Is 9 years old (the last 50 National winners were aged between 9-12 and sixteen of them were 9) Has the most experienced jockey in the lineup 4/1 presently, and that may be drying up (although it's possible more tempting offers will be available on Saturday). Some will say that is too short for a National bet. I say it's just another race, and you have to decide whether he has a better than 20% chance of winning. I'm on at 6's and I do regard him as having a better than 14% chance!
That's looking a tidy bet Connor! In amongst, sometimes when there is a big meeting on things go off at the other tracks which it is easy to miss. Oisin Murphy goes to Southwell today for four rides on the fibresand. All four look to have some sort of chance - in the case of May Night (2.40) I'd say a good chance. I've had a few modest singles on them and a small yankee. Fingers crossed!
1.45 The Shunter 2.20 Mon Miral 2.50 Clandaw Castle 3.25 Song For Someone 4.05 Cat Tiger 4.40 Grey Diamond 5.15 Eileendover
This year was my first missed Cheltenham in eleven years and it'll be my second (if you count last year) missed National meeting in the last 8. Absolutely pathetic that these two events had no crowds this year.
1.45 The Shunter 2.20 Adagio 2.50 Waiting Patiently 3.25 Brewinupastorm 4.5 Sametegal (EW) 4.40 Frero Banbou (EW) 5.15 Me Too Please (EW) Good luck to one and all For the National I think the better ground will suit Burrows Saint so he's my each way pick. Won on soft a few years back but most of his wins have been on yielding or better. Had an interesting campaign over hurdles before reverting to chasing last time
William Hills has a Flash Odds until 1 o clock of 2/1 for Tiger Roll in the 2:50 to finish in the first three upto a tenner. He loves racing at Aintree and was back to his best last time out.
