If, and it's still a big if, we do get to the Premiership, it's said to be worth around £200 million Do you think our owners would be willing to spend the big money for players to keep us there? Or cash out, let us get relegated and bank the £200 million, plus up to £50 million parachute payments spread over the next 3 years? Looking at the price of even mediocre PL players, we could be spending daft money, pay daft wages and still go down. Chien has made no secret of his business model, we exist to make money for him, so would he invest in the stadium, team, infrastructure etc? Or just keep the money? Mind you is this team capable of staying up without spending daft sums?
I’d love a huge chunk of that to be spent on the stadium rather than the team but that won’t happen for obvious reasons.
Obviously our wage cap would have to increase to allow for better quality players coming in. I would rather us follow the model, & use the money wisely for the inevitable to give us a good chance of returning. Rather than do an Huddersfield or a Stoke. However I don’t think it’s something to worry about as Bournemouth will be promoted.
Well I think they should certainly buy the other 50% of the stadium, and settle with James Cryne the outstanding issues around ownership. That would certainly pave the way for stadium development
The board have a plan for when we go up. I presume it'll be similar to the one they had for when we were promoted into this division. Increase the wage and transfer budget by a manageable amount, considering we could end up back in the Championship the following year with a PL budget. Supplemented by player sales, if we get good offers.
