will Mowatt stay and will we make a good attempt to keep Dike too. We will need more than that though .
I think thats the only way either will be with us next season - We dont know until we try but I dont think we have many who are really good enough for the prem but we may be surprised Dike and Morris may well be and it could be the centre backs are as well less sure about the midfield and in particular the second string strikers
Didn’t they up their game ? We need to give it a go but not spend all the money on players and wages . Theres lots at Oakwell to get right first .
Let all the lads here stay and have a go in premier, hate the reward for getting a team up is you get released,if we come straight back down who cares we got a few million re group and go again in a better financial place
can't say I agree. no room for sentiment. the reason it always happens is because there are always players not good enough to make the step. it's not in anyone's interest keeping people at a club, if they're not good enough.
Just saying we need to get players in who know the Premiership and can help the lads who got us there out on and off the pitch. Not go mad spending silly money. Just tweak "The Spreadsheet" a bit that's all.
I should say that’s a given . You seemed to be comparing us to Derby/Blunts and suggesting they didn’t invest enough , which they did but it didn’t come off , hindsight’s a wonderful thing especially whether a player will hit it off at your club . It would be great to go up this season and spend some of the cash upgrading the ground and facilities so that we can compete regularly at the top end of the Championshop and maybe hopefully a yo yo club for a while and each time getting wiser and hopefully longer .
Would prefer it if we just did a Norwich and invest in the right kind of player, develop the ones we've got, and if relegation comes then come down with finances well in tact. Move a couple of the better performers on for big money that have performed well, keep the ones on long contracts, invest in the infrastructure of the club to build a legacy from the success, and become a top performing Championship club threatening to turn Premier League for decades to come.
Mowatt won't have a better option than playing with us in the prem. Dike would have lots of options from more established Premier league clubs so will depend what he sees as best for his career.
I'll happily think about it IF we get there. At the moment, I'm simply enjoying this current campaign.
If we do go up and its still a big if, I'd sign the best up and coming lads from the championship. All signings would need to fit our style of play. I'd also sign a couple of older heads, namely Hourihane and Liam Moore from Reading (though he's not actually that old). We need to sign the best left wing back to compete with Styles. Resign Mowatt and sign Dike permanently. Then add another 3 forwards who can supplement Morris, Woodrow and Dike.
I was meaning for us not to come crashing back down in spectacular fashion. I would be happy if we just put on a good show and hang in there to the end of the season.
Why? We’re 5th in the Championship with a squad that had virtually no Championship experience before coming here, with a manager who had no championship experience. And every time there’s a vacancy there’s a bunch of folk who believe ‘experience at this level’ is a pre requisite. Yesterday we destroyed a team of highly experienced millionaire championship players managed by one of the most experienced managers ‘at this level’. I’ll go as far as to say, every £ spent on ‘Premiership’ players is a £ closer to the club collapsing.
Do we know who is agent is? After all he will be more interested in lining his own pockets than Daryl's future career.
