I get really really pissed And emotional I’m not sure on the result. I’ve been convinced we are going up since Feb time. Monday was a real blow as things didn’t fall for us and you do need a little bit of luck to win the play offs. I think that’s why we all feel a bit deflated because we don’t deserve to be behind in the tie. I’m immensely proud of this team and they deserve success. Fingers crossed. It’s not over yet.
As much as I want us to turn them over, I can’t help but think Swansea have got our number, especially this season. I’ve no doubt we’ll be at em from the off, but it’ll be all huff and puff. They’ll just soak it all up I reckon. Much like Monday, it’ll be about taking chances in which we didn’t do and they did, from the limited amount they created. Offside, poor defending, good goal, call it what you will, it matters not. I can just see that happening again unfortunately. 2-0 Swansea.
The game has gone to penalties, we are locked in at Swans 8 Reds 8. Swans have missed 3 and the Reds 2 (Brittain, naturally, and Mads having slipped on the penalty spot before blazing the ball over the bar Beckham-style, hanging his head and pointing at a tuft around the penalty spot, sad tears already forming around his grief-stricken eyes). Up steps Bradley Collins with potentially the final kick of the game; Collins, having already performed some classic sh*thousery with a scorpion kick to deny Jamal Lowe, and earlier in the game a headed clearance from the halfway line due to Barnsley's incredibly high backline, delivers an outrageous panenka, sending the Barnsley bench wild in scenes not seen since Brentford away 10 months prior. Mads appears on camera, beaming, his tears of pain now tears of joy, evoking the memory of Struber's Great Escape, but this time with the dream of the Promised Land in sight.* *meanwhile in South Yorkshire, the BBS has gone into a state of euphoric meltdown, and some still bemoan the fact that the football could be prettier and less hoofy. Other posters are on the front foot, already sorting their whatsapp groups for the Wembley ballot. Some posters have mixed emotions, and swear there'd better not be any non-STs setting foot in Wembley instead of them or there'll be hell to pay. 2 days later the club releases a statement from Dane Murphy, confirming that those with a Colchester stub will be exempt from the ballot after all, sparking reactions of delight and indignation in equal measure.
The season continues its slow petering out as we again draw a blank. What Swansea do, I've no idea, but we won't score, so it's moot. All eyes then on the Championship fixtures for next season.
It would go to penalties (No away goals). I'm assuming you think we'll win 1-0 over the 90 mins? Either us or Swansea go ahead in extra -time and then there's a leveller.
Surely we can win 2 v 1 in normal time , then go to extra time with no further goals & then win on penalties
We really have every chance to do this. It’s Swansea not Man City we’re playing and we owe them one. We are the underdogs now and it’s theirs to lose. Get an early goal and the momentum really swings our way. Summon the spirit of Huddersfield, Birmingham, Walsall and have faith in Val and the lads!
I honestly think if we get the first goal, we will win the tie in the 90 minutes. I don't even think there'll be the need for extra time. If we concede first, they'll shut up shop again and we'll not find a way through.
