We’ve got a good side and a good manager, with a board who at least won’t put us at risk of a points deduction (unlike some ) There are so many variables. Who will we keep? Who will we sign? Will Val still be here? Just go on gut feeling. Where will we finish?
I think val with stay and we’ll make some good signings. Mowett will leave but will soon be forgotten. Playoffs again
Personally I think we might have a safe but transitional season. We’ve got some good talent coming through, but I think certain players need a year’s experience before we might do something truly special.
I think Val will leave and it’s very hard to call what will happen thereafter. Would be delighted with mid table, I think will be a really tough season. Possible bottom half scrap. hope I’m wrong like!
Next season will be a different kettle of fish, with fans back inside. Top half should be achievable, even if there's some disruption to the squad. Play-offs... not so sure. Baggies, Fulham and Blades coming down, plus Bournemouth and the loser of the Swansea/Brentford final. Factor in those who missed out on play-offs this time... It won't be easy. But we'll see.
Too early to say we have already lost dike, mowatt will go, I expect to lose val and one or both helik and styles. Big summer coming up id say mid to bottom half if I had to guess.
I've gone for midtable obscurity because I feel Val robbed us of that this season! I can't see us struggling because even if key players go, nearly all our squad and coaching staff have now had championship experience. My only real worry is losing both Helik and Anderson , that could have us in trouble. I reckon Preston will.gave a good season too, they were picking up some good results at the end of this one.
where do you think he will go. I’m sure teams would go for wilder before Val. I’m not sure bigger teams would take a punt on him just yet after 1 season.
West Brom of Sheff U as I say I really hope I’m wrong but I think he’s a shrewd cookie and he’s in a great place to set himself and his young family up for life. He may also question whether he can repeat this seasons success on a limited budget. I appreciate he was disappointed after the final whistle but everything suggested to me that he would be off, rather than stay for the challenge next season. I sincerely hope not as I think he can build something great here and is a really good fit, but my gut feel is that he won’t be here next season.
West Brom and Sheff U both have money, l can't see them going for Vals style of football. It works for us because we are against the odds, they aren't.
I’ll come back to this in 8 weeks . Depends entirely on what our squad and manager looks like come kick off
I think West Brom suits Ismaël down to the ground, a team and fans used to hoof, money to spend, an unfashionable low budget club to 5th from nowhere, they’ll certainly be taking note and considering it.
I voted safe mid table as I think we'll struggle to hang on to Val. If he stays though, I'll upgrade that to playoffs.
He's not lacking in confidence though, is he? Though I dislike his football, he's a winner, and will do what it takes to win, and back himself in doing so. He's not stayed anywhere very long at all if you look at his coaching background, so as much as people have taken to him, I don't think that would hold him back from taking the next step to where he feels he can be more successful and achieve more things.
You've said this in multiple threads but West Brom aren't famous for playing 'hoof ball' as you continue to call it. Pulis lasted all of five minutes there and wasn't liked at all - because they weren't used to that style of football. Even Big Sam didn't go down the long ball route this season. Bryan Robson, Roy Hodgson, Darren Moore, Di Matteo, Pardew, Mowbray, Billic. None of them famous for playing long ball. I think you're getting a struggling team who aren't very fashionable confused with one who just kicks it long.
That's literally all you're taking from that reply? A bit of pedantry? West Brom aren't a 'hoof ball' club. It's not something their fans would be happy with. But then Big Val isn't a 'hoof ball' manager so they'd be perfectly fine.
