Huddersfield away. Boro at home. Watford. There's been plenty over the last 6-9 months. Blackburn. Norwich three times. Swansea second half (glass half full then both playoff games, but definitely the first). Bournemouth and QPR as already mentioned. Chelsea in the FA Cup too. All without looking at the fixture list.
The last 10-15 minutes at home was absolutely bonkers. And yes, that was probably the most enjoyable phase (Ismaels first game?) that we created so many clear cut chances and literally could've scored 10. The away game, i got completely frustrated with, despite the score line (2 set pieces and a long ball over the top), and actually got to the end thinking I'd enjoyed QPR's play more than our own. But I'm not going to go through and justify my views of other games I've seen because let's be frank, it's utterly futile and achieves nothing. Let's pick up again in August and see where we are.
Why do you do this? Isn't it possible it's your eyes that need training? People have posted exactly what you've requested and the standard answer tends to be "I didn't see that". Why is it you're being honest with your views, but others like me aren't and we're simply basing our opinions on results?
You said to the untrained eyes, I could be a wednesday fan. As i say, the written word doesn't evidence flippant sarcasm ;-)
I refer you to my response I've just given. I was replying to his sly dig at character assassination, not that my view is better than anyone elses.
Character assassination? Don't play the victim here like it was some kind of attack. I even acknowledged it probably wasn't deliberate or intentional on your part. I was being reasoned and considered, to use your own turn of phrase.
Here we go. I'm not getting into it with you because you always have to do this with anyone you've chosen to dislike or have a very opposite opinion to over a consistent period of time, I've seen it plenty of times. I thought we'd found a level, but I was wrong. So let's just keep a wide berth of each other, I think that's wisest.
It's like groundhog day on here, everyone was leaving last summer, then everyone was leaving in January - barely anyone left. In fact, on these owners contracts not many of the players leave. Same again this summer.
I don't think we'll see wholesale changes this year and that people will be surprised that we don't lose half the squad as conway and co will want to prove a point to the fans. I think we will struggle in the lower half of the table but not quite in danger and that's based on two things. That a lot of teams who miss out tend to struggle the next year for some reason and also that the longer a team plays a formation and tactic the more the opposition learn to play against it and Val has shown that he is a man who sticks to his guns regardless
I would normally agree mate but I think we've got genuine interest being shown in a lot of players this Summer. Last Summer and January it was only really Woodrow, Mowatt and Brown and we lost one of those. Hope you're right but think three will be the magic number on departures (excluding Mowatt and Dike).
Where we will finish next season i guess will depend entirely on peoples opinion on why we finished in the position we did this season historically a so called yoyo team who are strong in the lower division but struggle in the one above to suddenly out of nowhere pushing for a promotion spot. Such a massive jump up in form is not something that usually occurs from one year to the next with football teams although long term odds will dictate you have a one off season due to multiple factors colliding in your favour. a more than average number of incoming buys working out playing well , these players gelling with players already there ,other teams underperforming, a new manger ideas gelling with the players he has etc So you have Option A : A long term meticulous plan by the owners combined with a exceptional manger that is becoming to show the fruits of this and consequently leading to better results and more consistant long term form Option B: A gift from the gods in the form of a bizarre law change which allowed clubs to field five substitutes which when combined with already set in stone tactics and players already bought in previously to play those tactics tactics that consists of us harassing and pressing opposition players non stop wearing them out for maybe 2/3 3/4 of the game then bringing on three subs to smash the opposition and win the game in the final third or so of the match. This gave us so much of a unfair ? advantage compared to normally that it skewed results to such a degree leading us to finish where we did Was a perfect storm created which nearly led to us beating the system against teams with huge (borrowed in most cases) budgets. which will die out when normality returns.
It will forever baffle me why we didn’t stick with the three striker sub switch in the semis. It was our main weapon. Hey ho.
When we play hoofball, which I've seen us do a lot, it is terrible to watch. I'm sorry, the results might be enough to justify it but it is very hard to sit through. BFC have been a constant thread through my life as with most on here and mean probably more than just football. But I do love football. I fell in love with the game. I like the results but the way we've played at times is hard to love. We've been the media darlings this season purely because everybody loves a plucky underdog. That will wear off though especially if we are mid table or below next season and not only in the media.
I used to love all football when I was younger, I was genuinely obsessed. I find this to be the complete opposite now. I just can’t get interested in any football apart from BFC. I’ve tried Harrogate Town a few times but it just isn’t the same whatsoever. Football is gone for me, even at a grassroots level. BFC is the only thing keeping me interested in football at all, and, hoofball or not, seeing us be brilliant and 5th is something that makes me so happy and no difference in styles will ever change that. I respect your views entirely and think football can do a great deal of good for society, but I’ve just lost it, for many reasons I am sure.
