What's the definition of "good enough" for Championship Strikers? 10 goals, 12, 15, 20? Don't know the answer What's the ratio of goals to minutes for our players this season? Have we been spoilt by having DK and Morris, who have scored 8 and 7 (I think) in half a season?
Ashley Fletcher scored 4 goals this season (only 2 in league). Landed him a 5 year PL contract. Mad innit.
I was looking for summat like this but couldn't find it. Isn't FFP meant to be stopping this happening? Only 4 clubs under 100% of revenue feels absolutely insane / unsustainable / unfair / all the above. I realise it probably won't be as black and white as it looks but still, they are mad numbers. also makes me question my thoughts on Brentford. I'd got no idea their spending was so bad. I was under the impression they cut their cloth.
The problem is that FFP still allows huge losses every season and a further amount of losses that can be written off and crystallised as a share reserve, so a debt/equity swap, which Bristol City have done and I believe Patrick did which greased the wheels for the takeover to go ahead. With so many massively indebted clubs, are they going to allow a change of FFP or are they going to fight it and pursue legal avenues if it impinges them more than other clubs?
I have to agree mate. Nothing is black & white / straightforward when it comes to finances, but the EFL and FFP have been a joke for years. Some clubs get away with fiscal murder. Points deducted are always halved on appeal, or delayed to avoid the appropriate punishment. With some clubs the EFL turn a blind eye, whilst others are persecuted for minor indiscretions. NOTE: For legal reasons, al the above are allegedly!
Well, we've seen the back of Wigan and Wednesday. I hope WRDCFC and Reading follow suit. I'd also love it if Brentford imploded, seeing as they seem intent on buying their way to the Prem.
Swansea must be counting the parachute payments in their income if they're paying Ayew 70k a week and still under 100%.
Brentford’s wage to turnover % looks bad but don’t forget they have brought some very big transfer fees in over the past 2-3 years, income which isn’t included in turnover, Best part of £50m for Watkins and Benrahma (sp?j last summer by all accounts. They could probably get another £25-£30m for Toney too if / when they decide to cash in Not commenting on the rest of their finances as apparently they owe a fortune to the owners. It’ll be interesting to see how they go on over next season or 2 if they don’t go up
Problem comes when either a player sale falls through, or if they don’t go up, sell Toney and his replacement flops. Their owner puts a load of cash in, and they recoup some of it from sales. I get the impression that our owners will primarily sell first, then spend, which causes the frustration when players are sold before a replacement is brought in.
