I hope the rest of the England Cricket team are named and shamed for past tweets as it will show what a farce this is.
Unless there’s something in the two redactions of Parkinson’s tweets that are in the screenshot, not sure they are comparable with Robinson’s tweets
Robinson shouldn't have been banned. Bess, Parkinson, Anderson and Butler shouldn't be banned either. It's just they have punished Robinson so now will feel they need to punish the rest of their old tweets I linked to so Robinson doesn't feel he has been treated differently as a newbie compared to more senior players.
Expense claim can of worms opened by the ECB. That's what they get for pandering for those baying for blood before putting their brains into gear. I hope Michael Vaughan has skeletons in his cupboard because he's a first class... too.
google and read <Parliamentary motion condemns Institutional Racism ......ECB > With their track record its a tad hypocritical for the ECB to be dealing with issues of Race!
You're not an adult at 18. In the eyes of the law, yes. But you're still a kid, really. It took me till my mid 20s to grow out of some really stupid ideas.
Depends on what these tweets say. If the tweets in question are the ones shown earlier where Parkinson called Kohli a pr1ck, then it’s out of order to drag it back up. But if anyone has used racist, sexist, homophobic, or other discriminatory language, then by all means punish them. But I also think any punishment should include something constructive, like having them work with academies, unconscious bias training etc… There is an irony to the fact that while all this is happening, Craig Overton can come into the side.
Sorry, should have clarified my post Helen. Any discriminatory posts are clearly unacceptable and I'm sure will be dealt with appropriately but a bit of swearing or banter that's got a tad out of hand seems ridiculous. I guess we will find out soon though.
Has someone employed one individual to go through ever individual English sportspersons social media postings since facebook etc began?
Problem is, that although I believe the players in question should definitely be dealt with in a suitable manner, all things like this will do is trigger the racists in everyday life who are still racists and weren’t just silly boys to move further and further to the right.
And Root, Butler, Parkinson, Bess, Morgan and the rest who have tweeted questionable things since being well known so should know better compared to a teenager before he hit the big time being made an example of....
I see the usual suspects have been happy to let this thread fade into obscurity, for obvious reasons. We've now gone from Ollie Robinson having the best day of his (professional) life just over a week ago, to now unsurprisingly taking a break altogether from cricket, potentially never to return. All thanks to a few bad taste jokes on social media from almost a decade ago when he was just another ******** teenager (much removed from the man he appears to be now), and the divisive desires of the lonely ghouls that haunt social media looking for the next offence they might take about something/anything, so long as it garners them some attention. Well done to all of you braying for 'something to be done' from behind your keyboards, you utter, utter sh*ts.
Racism eh, sometimes it's fine, especially when talented sports people do it. I couldn't care less about how old he was, what sort of person he was and what sort of person he is now; he made racist comments on a public forum. I'm all for people being named and shamed, even moreso when they are individuals in a position of influence. If that makes me an "utter sh*t" then I'm ok with that.
That - is an excellent post. I particularly agree with the differentials between between an adult and maturity. Sounds like we had a very similar upbringing except my old man was Navy rather than pit.
