Not if it only fails - only if it was truly frivolous. Much as I agree it was a red, you can’t really say there wasn’t an argument, if only weak, to reduce to yellow. And they don’t do that anymore really as there’s no need - teams used to appeal red cards tactically to move the ban, as the suspensions didn’t used to apply straight away if appealed. A tactical appeal could mean a key player was available for one more game before his ban. They listen to appeals before the next game these days, fast track system.
How the **** was the yellow card decision against Ben Williams not overturned to red . It was far worse than this one.
I’m amazed they haven’t had one added for a frivolous appeal. It was as blatant as it gets even from 70 yards away.
Apparently once a yellow has been issued it cannot be upgraded to a red , that was the excuse they used on the Morgan Hume debacle , that wasn"t just a red it was GBH
