Sorry can't find a link, but word for word from the Sunday people..

Barnsley owner Patrick Cryne is stalling on a £5.5 Million bid by a British consortium to buy the club and its land, which could mean a possible move away from Oakwell., the Tykes' home since 1888..Now the delay is giving the buyers second thoughts.

Don't do it Patrick, moving out of Town to a flat pack soulless dome, ala Pikeys, won't go down well at all.

I would like to hear both sides of the argument before saying yay or nay to a move.....not that I or we would have a say anyway..

Agree; I would oppose any move away from Oakwell.

He only owns 50% of the land anyway the council owns the other half and would have to agree to sell it which although they need the money wouldn't go down well with voters.

Barnsley Councillors don't care about the voters, hence closing the Library. This is not just the Labour lot either.

Wouldn't go down well with voters? That would be the voters who can't seem to find their way to Oakwell on match days?

Move it to Manvers, build a train station and a few boozers and hopefully we'd be able to attract a few more fans

I wouldnt oppose a new stadium depending on Geography and the reasons behind it.

Most clubs when they move to a shiny new ground seem to take more fans, Donny are a freak in this situation. Look, the club, off of the field are going nowhere and fast so I would like to see us investigate all the options that are available. History is all well and good, if you can protect your assets and your club, but at the moment that doesnt look like its happening.

PC has done a great job in protecting it for so long, and we can all thank him for that, but maybe its time to open up another chapter in the BFC hardback.

How far beyond the Academy Complex does the shared land ownership go? Just looking at it, it may be feasible to build a new improved "Oakwell Style stadium and free up the current ground/car park for a high value Development. Sorry if this upsets the Traditionalists but I'm just looking at it from a business point of view for the long-term good of the club.

All we need to do is redevelop the West Stand and the ground would be perfect.

Clearly a rehash of the Chron takeover rumour that never happened. And if Cryne turns any offer down due to a consortium wanting to move us away from Oakwell, then I'm happy with that. Our ground and where it's situated is fantastic and one of our strengths. Not to mention state of the art training/academy facilities.

If a consortium want to come in and buy 11 young, hungry, driven, passionate, determined and quality footballers, then I'd be all for it.

Lot of land at Oakwell. It used to belong to the Football Club. Now it looks like starting again with nothing.

Story to be told and all that.

Perhaps I should contribute to the Tory popular press then? I've found on many ocassions the football gossip in the People to be with foundation and often fairly accurate. I don't always buy a Sunday paper but when I do I buy the People. In my work I experience and deal with situations that are often politically motivated almost every weekday, Sunday is for me, reading about football thanks.
