I have just seen this on my facebook page. "a guy has just spoken to Ronnie and told him that he has a heart problem but he has not had a heart attack he thanks everyone for their concern" So hopefully its all good news.
Hi all, This is Ronnie's son. Firstly I want to thank everyone for their kind words & wishes, it does mean a lot to us all! RGis currently in hospital with a heart issue that he has had for the past couple of years. At present, he's feeling good & moving about, (pissed off he's in there though!), but awaiting an operation next week to hopefully fix this issue, after the issue flared up leading to him being rushed in last Thursday. He wants to thank everyone for all their thoughts & reassure everyone he's okay now! Thanks guys, CG.
Ronnie Glavin, Barnsley FC Legend . get well soon mate looking forward to a visit to Oakwell from yer, long overdue IMO.
W Wish him all the best from me too. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you the esteem he's held in amongst Reds fans, but I'l tell you anyway. He stood out as the best player we had at the time, which in itself wouldn't be particularly special, as we have also had a best player every year since, but some of those 'best' players wouldn't have got anywhere near your dad's team. The team your dad was part of was the best team we have had, certainly in my 38 years of watching the Reds. Which makes him the best player in the best team we have had. Now that's pretty special! I was actually sorting through some old scrapbooks earlier today and came across a pile of Topps cards and Panini stickers of your dad and Mick McCarthy and the like, so I was thinking about some of the great games earlier. If your dads feeling a bit down in the dumps stuck in hospital, just remind him of the time he was coming back from injury and was on the bench at Hillsborough. The Wednesday fans were singing something along the lines of 'where's your famous Ronnie Glavin?' So he came off the bench. And showed them! That was over thirty years ago and still makes us all smile today. Get well soon Ronnie!
thanks for the update. Can you pass all our best wishes onto your Dad, he's a true legend to many on here. Hope all goes well with his operation next week.
Heard he went past 4 nurses, 2 porters and a couple of specialists before anyone got close! Best wishes Glav. Ledge!
Our answer to boring football Ronnie Glavin's always scoring Can you hear the Ponty roaring Ronnie is our king! Get well soon Ronnie. And I agree with Marlon's comment above. We're overdue a visit to Oakwell again, I'd love to pay tribute to the best player I've seen in a Reds shirt during the last 40 years.
Not only the best player I've seen play for Barnsley, but the best player I've ever seen full stop! My boyhood hero. Get well soon King Ronnie.
Version I remember is We dont think that footballs boring Cos Ronnie Glavins always scoring Can you hear the ponty roaring Ronnie is our king One Ronnie Glavin ,there's only one Ronnie Glavin. One Ronnie Glavin Theres only one Ronnie Glavin
