Hi all, Conor here. I just wanted to let all you fantastic fans know that Ronnie is currently on his way home, after his successful operation earlier in the day. Myself & my family want to thank everyone for their kind words & keeping him in all your thoughts throughout this difficult two weeks.
Thank you for the update, that's great to hear. For those of us who saw him play, it's very difficult to express just how good a player Ronnie was and how much he meant to us. He was just the best we've ever seen.
R old boy saw him, said he was the most talented player he'd seen for us, until Hignett. I'm guessing from your post you'd disagree? I still think Hignett's the most talented I've seen, obviously I missed Glavin by a few years.
Ronnie was better than Higgy though in terms of natural ability he was probably the closest. Both had lovely Balance and a way of gliding past opposition players that marks out the truly gifted from the rest.
Used to make me smile...every oppo manager seemed to issue orders for a big lummox of a defender to take Glav out...Never happened, Ronnie was on a different wavelength...until the end of his career he was seldom injured. Brilliant player, brilliant memories. Chuffed that he's on the mend.
Good to hear that, take it easy Ronnie and get well soon. The best player I've seen at BFC in 57 years watching the reds, the only one to come near him was Higgy, he was close but still behind King Ronnie.
Hignett is one of the few players we've had since who you could legitimately compare to Glavin. They were both extremely gifted and talent like that does not come around very often, particularly at clubs like Barnsley. I thought Glavin was better, some prefer Hignett. They were both fantastic.
When he's well enough can we send your legendary father down to the training ground to tell Dale Jennings that a bit of extra timber doesn't stop you from being a class player if you apply yourself well enough
