Thinking of getting one with a windfall.
I have got a 1080p tele so blue ray would be handy?
Got a 5 y.o kid so maybe a wii would be more in order?
Old x box looked much better than PS2 but wrried about reliability reports of the xbox360.
Decisions, decisions..
Any tips??

Xbox 360 - can buy a good machine with all accessories for around £180, a good £150 cheaper than a PS3. Plenty of games avaliable for kids etc. Amazing graphics.
Xbox 360 all day mate. Nice and cheap and loads of great games, everyone who I have spoken to who have both prefer the xbox even though the graphics are slightly worse than the ps3. Games seem to play better on the xbox for some reason.
Xbox All day mate. I have been on both the xbox and ps3 and the xbox is far better. Better to play and graphics are the same for both. Ps3 has blu ray though!!
hi, been to uncles today and hes got is step-son soon a wii and it looked ace on a LCD TV. If you are looking for a console like the Microsoft xbox 360 or the Sony ps3 i would go for the ps3. I have a ps3 and have got to say that it is brilliant and would recommend it to any one. Just ask them who were on last night saying about it. I think was saying about fifa.
XBOX 360 And a standalone Sony BR player with some discs included, all for the price of a PS3. Amazon currently doing the BDP-S350 bluray player with Wall-E, Mamma Mia and Hitchcock blurays included and a further two blurays (Casino Royale & Batman Returns) when you register the player. All for £150-odd quid. Your 1080p set is crying out for one....
spartacus this might help you. http://www.game.co.uk/lowdown.aspx?lid=6420&cm_sp=x360hub-_-topnav-_-x360
If you really want Blu-Ray The only choice is a PS3. However, XBox 360 seems to have loads more going for it - especially price wise. I'm thinking of getting one and using it as a windows media extender (as well as a games machine). You can always buy a blu-ray player at a later date. They are sure to be dirt cheap soon... BTW, doesn't your Virgin cable setup already provide you with HD broadcasts? I don't watch so many DVD's these days - as there is always plenty on the box. I'd go with the XBox...
RE: If you really want Blu-Ray Very little HD on Virgin - none of the Sky Movie channels or sport for example.
