You didn't need to write all that, "W*nkers" summed it up perfectly :)

there weren't any Barnsley supporters among them. Probably quite few from Millwall......

    Good read

Edit - it's not a good read really, I don't want to read about England fans doing this, I don't want them to do it, what I meant is it's a well written piece on a very troubling phenomenon.

Absolutely spot on. This is one of the reasons why I'm always ambivalent about England when it comes to football. That and the over-hyping of some very average footballers down the years.

just to add some balance. around 300 england fans have been cited. around 30,000 have travelled. that's around 1%. it would be nice to see another article, for the 99% of well behaved fans

Lumping them all together is what's easier for the police etc.
It ends up solving absolutely fek all.
Its lazy uncaring policing ,all countries do it.
Instead of concentrating on the absolute cnuts who cause the trouble then mingle away whilst police are trouncing anyone who they like ( some hooligans some not ) and the cnuts in the media taking photos to match their headlines nothing will change, nothing will alter the fact so many of us will not go to away matches with our families for fear of either getting lumped on by the police, or hooligans.
Or being treat as irrelevant by people stood up in front of others.or foul language ,smoking in toilets etc .
Typical policing which solves nothing .

Particularly, as airtyke pointed out, when you live here, you feel like you shoukld be apologising even though the are a minority it does reflect on UK as a nation. It is as the same when many of them go on holiday or stag weekends. Why can Italians, French, Germans and Spanish holidaymakers mix and enjoy cafe culture but as soon as the Brits descend for a stag weekend you end up with rowdy tw*ts throwing up in fountains, picking fights or goading locals. As I say, it is a minority, and other countries, particularly when it comes to footy, do have their problem makers but the common denominator is when it kicks off there are usually some Brits there or thereabouts.

Wouldn't bother me if we get knocked out at the earliest opportunity. Couldn't give a **** about England as a team, and am sick of being embarrassed about the neanderthals

You fail to point out that locals & Russian fans fancy having a go at English fans sants outside bars enjoying themselves. Just based on reputations of 20+ yrs ago.mthey want to make a name for themselves. Also every English football team that's been in that part of the world finds themselves in some fort of a skermish. Don't be fooled into thinking that this is just. English fans causing trouble as the British media would have you believe

its all well and good blaming the "English" BUT allot of the trouble has been caused by the Marseille ultras, local gangs, Russians and the police.

ive seen videos of local gangs throwing bottles at the English then legging it once the police arrive who then attack the English. ive seen Russian fans throw bottles at the English while the English were just sat round tables having a quiet drink, ive even seen a video of some stupid French bint throw her bottle of larger at the English.

the press seem to love watching the English get attacked then just film the aftermath, don't believe all the hype the press have been publishing, ive got mate out their whos told me a different story, yes the English are not all well behaved but if im sat their will my mates and some bellend lobs a bottle at me for no reason then they'll defo be getting summit thrown straight back at them
