I don't suppose they apologised for the inconvenience, admitted their mistake and offered to pay his costs and compensation....

I once got arrested at Bramall Lane for fighting with three other Barnsley fans. I told the police that it was self defence, that I had been punched first. They appealed on Radio Sheffield for witnesses that had been seated in the area. My solicitor heard nothing until the morning we went to court. The first thing he did was to ask for an adjournment until he had copies of any witness statements. Suddenly the prosecution hands over a brown envelope they had 5 statements that completely confirmed what I had told them, even to extent of the conversation previous, almost word for word. The police had been in possession of the statements for weeks and still went to court hoping to somehow get a conviction. Complete set of b@stards. Really pleased for your mate, sometimes you have to stand and fight.

Aren't statements and anything to do with a trial in court supposed to be seen and reviewed by both sides before a case even starts?

    Happy to hear of this.

Your mate must be well relived with this.

TBH it should never have come this far.

google 'Eddie Gilfoyle' or 'Jeremy Bamber' and read about disclosure of evidence - or lack of it.

Yea they are, that's why he told me he was going to get it adjourned when we arrived at court. God know what the prosecutions plan was but the solicitor said it was ridiculous that the CPS had even allowed it to go to court.

Ah. Ok. Wrong end of the stick. It's evidence collected and not used.

But surely defence would have asked for this before getting to court (I mean in terms of the 5 witness statements above).

Apparently he had but had got no reply. By the way I've just noticed your tag, would you be the same Nez that used to hang around with Cuz and Thoz from the 11 o'clock club?

It's not something that rings a bell and I don't know what the 11 o clock club is. So it will be someone else.

Lack of response clearly shows the prosecutions intention.

    Glad he got sorted anyway
