Family grief cannot be underestimated. But rather than minutes applause being the thing these days for nearly every game, perhaps the club could put the names and photos of fans we've lost since last season on the scoreboard at half time or before kick off v Burton? I don't wish to be insensitive but applause then for all that we have lost seems a reasonable idea for me.
People are trying to get 2 lots of applause going tomorrow - starts to become meaningless- one at the end of the year with names on the scoreboard or in the programme would be better
Not only meaningless but as a supporter you feel a bit pressured into doing it. It seems like a big attention seeking thing to me and absolutely nowt to do with what the deceased wanted. Look at me, look at me.
What a strange way to project onto the situation. If you've supported BFC your whole life I see no more moving / fitting tribute than Oakwell remembering/ applauding your memory for a minute. Must be very moving for the families, too.
Or we could use it like the stock exchange to show players current value, massive **** up price drops, spectacular goal price soars etc
Brilliant idea - Mawson og tomorrow = a massive "-£250,000" comes up with a 'Family Fortunes' style noise from Mr Babbage.
Yeah I won't be joining in. Plenty will and it's their choice but when it happens so often it waters down the significance and it's already a fad that doesn't appear to be going away.
I agree but would be better all together at the end - a properly organised one with names on scoreboard. To be fair 70% probably don't even knw why they are clapping
Just to add the remembrance could also be included in the Burton match programme. When I go that'll do for me.
Probably was one of the 1st Super Tyke, nearly bloody scored too on the minute of applause. There's a film of Luke Steele somewhere saying same as well.
I think your dad was the first that I remember and it had quite a lot of 'coverage' on social media too. I think what's happened since is that because of that a lot of people have seen the applause as an almost kind of 'trophy' and a demonstration of their social status so the families are asking for them out of more selfish reasons and attention seeking. I just wanted to explain that to let you know that in no way was I referring to yourself when I made those comments, it was regarding a few groups who have copied. Anyway is it wrong that I find it quite funny that they nearly scored? Your dad (if he could hear what was going on but not see) would have been slightly confused
I didn't take it as you we're referring to me, I agree to an extent and liked what Sheff Utd did on the scoreboard with all names who had passed that season.
