Ok, given Virgin are putting the price up again I'm looking at an alternative to the usual paid subscription tv stuff. Just spent a day at bro in laws and he's just ditched his sky and got a fully loaded amazon fire stick and it seems to do the lot. Any recommendations on what box to use? I would be getting a loaded one as I dont think Im savvy enough to sort it from scratch. The portability of a stick isnt so important to me, just want something that will play in HD and as future proof as pos. The Nvidia Shield seems to be the gold standard at around £200, do u really get much more than a £60 set up elsewhere? Cheers all.
I've loaded it on a Firestick myself. The SEO Michael website is brilliant for step by step instructions, not only for the initial loading of Kodi on the Firestick, but also for installing the addons you want. You can't really go wrong with it. It's cheaper than getting a box as well.
I've got a Firestick that someone at work loaded with Kodi. Not had any success at all with it though, it just freezes all the time on Sky Sports & BT. I'm told there's some software I could use with a monthly payment that would make it work. Anyone any advice on this...???
How's your Internet connection?? What links are you using for the streams?? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Internet connection is thru virgin & I'm told is well fast enough. Tried a few via Bulldog, UK Turks, Castaway, Sports Mix etc, half of em just buffer then refuse to open & even if they do just freeze all time
It must be your stick. Dont pay for enhancers etc you shouldn't need them. Either change stick or investigate int connection. Try someone else's stick on yours or yours on theirs etc.
Tbh you're using all the wrong links for sports. Try dc sports, njm soccer. On a good connection these 2 are by far the best. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Not got DC sports but tried NJM soccer & once again just freezes all time. Must be my internet connection but cheers anyway.
U.K. Turks, sports devil and gorilla are fine for sports, if it buffers double check you are signed into Amazon and check internet speed. as for a box the fire stick does everything I need for £35. Treat.
What Internet speed do you think is required to get a stable stream? I get around 6mb on average and I see the constant freezing and buffering that the original poster is talking about
For SD 6-10mb should be OK but for HD streams needs to be about 12-15mb, I'm on 100mb and still get buffering on some addons but that's probably down to where the file is being hosted Sent from my X5pro using Tapatalk
Interesting that. I get a pi$$ poor 7mb and it's mostly fine on HD. Absolutely no problems streaming 1080p on Exodus. But I use Realdebrid, which probably helps.
Another vote for the Firestick from me - these Android boxes tend to have questionnable processing power whereas the Firestick is relatively powerful and very smooth to use...I've read Amazon actually sell these at a loss as it's obviously geared up to get you to pay for their Prime service.
