Looking at the ticket map, we really should have opened the areas labelled 'L4' and 'West UC'. Club says it's looking like a sell out for all open parts of the ground and some folk look like being disappointed. Can't see how just these extra sections being open would lead to any danger of home/away fan clashes?

Just bemuses me this whole west stand thing.

West UC is never opened for general sale. Thats the area of seats behind the directors box and the club reserve for various known groups.

The fact we never sell in L4 is much more bizarre- it all stems from the apparent need to keep at least 100 empty seats between home and away fans at Oakwell - whereas a line of stewards and a net thrown over a couple of seats works everywhere else in the country. Did we give Newcastle any of the west stand? if not I would have thought opening WUB is a possibility if we are selling out. We did that for the Walsall playoff game

As far as I know we told Newcastle to stuff re. west stand so don't think they have any of it.

Someone should ask the club why we are prepared to lose thousands of pounds by keeping the west stand north side shut. By doing so it's cost us the rarity of possibly a sold out second tier league game and on an evening kick off too.

And surely the extra ticket, programme, ale, pie sales etc would cover SYP's (ridiculous) fee increase

How do you know we wont open it if we do sell out the other tickets, we did for the Walsall game last season - but only started selling when the rest of the stadium was full. There are still seats in the South side of the West. If we sell those and then still dont open WUB we need to start asking questions. but surely most who are going have already got tickets now.

Wonder if we might have sold another couple of thousand by now if we'd charged a reasonable ticket price :(

Even if we end up opening for our own fans we will still lose thousands compared to Newcastle who would have sold it out.

Can't remember our last sold out league game especially on a night. The chance of that happening would have been great. Should happen for Leeds and Wednesday so shouldn't have long to wait.

You keep banging on about giving it to Newcastle, why don't we just play it at St James Park instead? it'll be the same, their supporters at either side of the tunnel. The club have said on their twitter account on numerous occasions that it's not cost effective, the most tickets we can sell his 1500 in that end, take off the cost of stewarding, police, catering staff and we don't make owt.

Why give it to them anyway when it looks like the home ends are selling, l said hang fire last week.

Isn't part of the West Stand Upper closed for maintenance work until at least the end of the season?

Not commenting on whether it should be given to away fans or not but the idea that it isn't cost effective can't be true can it?

We don't pay for catering staff so what are the actual extra costs? Police and stewards plus a couple of turnstile operators. If we can sell 1000 tickets at £37 a go and the police and stewards cost more than that then something is drastically drastically wrong and I need a new career.

Touché. Single ticket price for this game is a bit high though. Category A and A* prices take the mick a bit IMO.

Yeah I think it's usually around 1,300 but could be wrong. If you can't make a nice sum out of that many paying mainly the 30 quid price then something is up. A few min wage stewards, free ticket for turnstile operator or min wage again for two hours max, no need for catering as that's done to the company. So that would imply that policing costs are sky high which is a shame :(

As it stands there are approx. 700 tickets available in home ends(quiet at work so had a quick count up of the online map). Unless we sell these tonight no chance any other area will be opened. Like others have said those who are planning on going will have tickets already

I think you'll find that we haven't made all the tickets in East L7 available yet either. Just the area from the first aisle, up to East L6.
