just been on sky sports news they said its calming down but you could see in the distance near the exit tunnels it was kicking off
it got bad again when they got the stadium, they should get 5000-10000 seasts blocked off and kicked out of the cup
I hadn't realised that the problem was as bad as it is until I heard a discussion about it on the radio tonight. It sounds like there are problems in the surrounding Olympic village every home game.
What's the reason people are giving? Cheaper tickets? Ruffians in the local area? New fans are bellend plastics?
One of the reasons given in the discussion I heard was cheaper tickets bringing back the worst of the neanderthal element. It also seems that the set up particularly outside the stadium isn't helping due to the police not being able to be everywhere.
A massive free stadium that they've done nowt but moan about as well. I wish there was some way I could let West Ham fans know they've always been making up the numbers in the Premier League and a new stadium does not make a big club/better team, which I think is what a lot of them were expecting.
I'm sure the local coppers will come down on them like a ton of bricks like they did the Millwall fans at Wemb . . . .oh wait.
I get the impression that at Upton Park, most of the stadium was self segregated by the fans, to the point where a large percentage were stood up throughout the game without anyone battering an eyelid. Now, as the people who were sat in the same area are more spread out, and then there's the thousands of new fans, it seems to be kicking off. People standing up is one reason, not the sole reason though. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
Why does it seem neanderthal behaviour is undergoing a renaissance in Britain today? It's fine to treat child refugees as rats, tell economic migrants to **** off back home in the street and go to the football to pelt seats and coins at innocent kids and old folks. While we're on the topic, has anything been done by the FA about the disgusting behaviour of the Millwall fans at Wembley yet? I hope we draw them in the 3rd round of the Cup at Oakwell and give them an away allocation of exactly 0 to shame them publically.
I've not been to the ground since it was redeveloped, but as it was for the Olympics, it was hard to see how it could be fit for football. The concourse was massively wide and wrapped unbroken around the whole ground. There were huge amounts of open staircases at regular intervals, so basically you could access the entire stadium from your entry point. Then the approach. The ground is basically on an island with regular "bridges" to the main land around the ground, and then you're into park land. That means people are very difficult to route or channel on the approach and segregation looks incredibly difficult. Looking at the footage, the additional work to segregate away fans looks token. Have to agree regarding the UK today though. It's getting worse, more hostile, less compassionate and the open racism and bigotry is incredibly worrying.
The most threatened I've ever felt at a football match. Was at Upton Park for a 1st Division game about 1981 against Southampton (mate was a saints fan, went to White Hart Lane with me for the Enfield FA Cup replay). We went in the home end (advised by a regular) and nobody knew that we weren't West Ham fans but the fighting, surging and flying objects genuinely made me fear for my life. Hellish experience. Should have a reputation like Millwall/Leeds/Birmingham City etc, but for some strange reason they don't.
Re: The most threatened I've ever felt at a football match. West Ham don't have a reputation You having a laugh I would fear going to West Ham over Leeds , millwall , Birmingham anyway Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Re: The most threatened I've ever felt at a football match. I might start a campaign for West Ham to get some more free stuff from the tax payer. They deserve it.
