Would the brave men and women of syp accept a bfc initiative of selling tickets at discounted rates for the west stand for oaps only. Something like an 8 game flexi ticket. This way, the elderly get a decent incentive to watch the Reds, the stand gets some sort of use and it's another connection to the community.

Strongly doubt there'll be another flexi ticket offer for some months, especially not in a stand we never sell many tickets in regardless if of offers

The older generations have the most money these days. And if they don't follow us now then they never will

No sweeping generalisation like that can ever be true, maybe the ones with decent company pensions but there are fking loads that are struggling, its like saying the younger generation are skint because of big mortgages and kids, they don't all have them!

It also depends on how you define the older generation. I cant be bothered to check but I will guess the generation with the most disposable money on average are those between 55 and 65 - still in work, kids left home( or at least paying some rent to Mum and Dad) and mortgage paid off. Once retired for many their income drops significantly a large number of retired people are really struggling. But in each age range there will be rich , OK and poor.

All that said - if you get to your 60's and have never bothered with Barnsley FC you are unlikely to start now, no matter what ticket price

There already is one? 5 games not 8 and you aren't restricted to a particular stand. £80

As a 60-year old who hasn't claimed a benefit since I was 22 and who has contributed massively over a working life to the wealth of the nation, I think we deserve something back in our old age.

That's why you see all the elderly living in the grandest houses, driving the most expensive cars and holidaying abroad a dozen times a year in St. Tropez, Mauritius, the Caribbean and around the Polynesian Islands(!):D:D

I can see the argument that says that people who retired in the last 15-20 years are the lucky generation with a younger retirement age and more likelihood of having a final salary scheme. Doesnt mean they all are though. I do think pensioner benefits should be based on need. My ex father in law income well over 100k a year in retirement getting his winter fuel allowance and bus pass never felt right and he said that it was ridiculous himself.

Yeah, I felt REALLY lucky to be thrown on the scrap heap in my fifties(!)
Thankfully, I have a wonderful wife who picked me up and got me to move my life in a totally different direction.

Similarly thrown on the scrap heap by my oil company employer at the age of 52 and then had to be content ( despite two degrees) of mediocre jobs, fur to employers considering me 'overqualified'.
