What's the rule in football you'd most want to change if you could?

For me it's the ridiculous awarding of yellow cards for celebrating goals with fans. Fans pay their hard-earned money every week to attend games and support their team, and I think it's great when they get to be involved in special moments at the front of the stand with the last minute winning goal scorer or the star striker who's just put them in front against a massive rival. Don't understand why players always get booked for it - same with taking the shirt off - as long as they're not advertising a logo on a vest underneath I don't understand the problem?

If you concede a free kick / throw in you should not be allowed to touch the ball. The ball should belong to the opposition and if you touch it you should get a yellow card.

Today we saw Bristol kick the ball over the wall twice to break momentum and countless times where they picked up the ball, ran away with it and then somehow lost the ability to throw the ball back.

Every team does it, but if they weren't allowed it'd make the game much quicker and more enjoyable for fans. Similarly, refs should punish players who stand over the ball to prevent quick free kicks. If you concede a foul you shouldn't be able to gain an advantage by stopping that kick being taken quickly. Would make the game much better to watch if that was outlawed.

Yesterday was a perfect illustration of one rule change required. Winnall gets flattened by their player has to go off for 10 minutes for stitches. So for their infringement/ thuggery (not seen the replay) we lose a player!
The opposition should be made to remove a player from the pitch for the amount of time he's off or, more sensibly we should be allowed a blood replacement just like in rugby.
And don't get me started on the referee yesterday!

I would actually enforce the 6 second rule.

15 seconds their keeper held onto the ball for yesterday, without any encouragement from the referee to hurry up.

No substitutions in added on time at 90 mins. We do it , every other team does it ,when they are winning and trying to run the clock down. It annoys me no end.

Blatantly obstructing a forward from reaching the ball when it's running out of play.
Happens time and time again with no attempt to play the ball.

It's also about time shirt pulling at corners should be banned. They seemed to start to clamp down on it at the beginning of the season but that seems to have stopped now. It would be a foul anywhere else on the pitch, so why not in the box?

And video replays must be a priority for all major decisions.

All Barnsley matches that end in a defeat for the mighty reds go to replay until the result gets better.

The problem with that is that we'd have been playing simultaneous matches at Loftus Road and Highfield Road since before the Second World War.......

It's a marathon not a sprint. As long as one of our lads can outlive one of their's we will prevail.

Scrap 45 each way play 30 mins each way ball in play most halfs is around 24 Mins. Every time balls out of play or player injured clock stops. Does away with time wasting and fans get more for there money as the ball in play will be for 30 mins not the average.

Go back to the old, simple, offside rules.

    Re: For one thing I'd

I'd just ensure that referees applied the ones that are there. Probably ten penalties in the first game, but I'm sure that the players would soon catch on that holding and shirt pulling is cheating, and against the rules. The argument that it is a mans game is garbage.

I'd allow physios onto the pitch whilst the balls in play. It would (a) let players get treated quicker (b) eliminate blatant time wasting

The ridiculous rule where you're awarded a goal if the ball crosses the line between the two posts.

The rule that says a player can't be punished retrospectively for an offence if the referee saw it and supposedly dealt with it at the time. If someone commits a violent offence, it should be punished, regardless of who saw it. Why should a thug get away with an assault because an incompetent referee didn't deal with it properly?
