It really is unbelievable how far we've come isn't it. 9 losses in our first 16 games, in LEAGUE ONE. I'm struggling to comprehend how that was only a year ago. Even better, that loss to Altrincham was LESS than a year ago. Well done Hecky and the lads.
This is why I just can't bring myself to criticise anything at the moment. Coming on here picking holes in individual performances just shows a total lack of perspective for me. Hecky and the lads have earned one hell of a lot of leeway in my eyes. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
i don't see why it's so funny tbh. hecky himself has said times many, that lee johnson deserves credit for our success, and has spoken favourably about all the hard work he put in. is he wrong as well?
How many games unbeaten were we under Johnson? Because if he wasn't responsible for the turn around he most certainly wasn't for the losses either.
Seeing as it's widely accepted that building a successful side takes time and requires solid foundations, I think it is rather disingenuous to completely write off Johnson's contribution, regardless of any personal dislike or some of the horrendous pperformance under him. Acknowledging that he started the ball rolling in no way diminishes what Paul Heckingbottom has achieved since then. I'm also of the opinion that a huge amount of the necessary spade work which started our recovery was done by Danny Wilson. We had been very ill for a long time, and the period of recuperation was not simple and lasted a long time.
You've got me. Johnno let us in 12th place nine points off he play offs. All Hecky had to do was go in and finish the job off.
Don't get why you have to try and be such a smart ar$e about it mate. That's no response to a fair challenge really, is it..
Think people are saying the exact opposite. Hence why Johnson deserved credit for the winning run he started. Let it go. Sent from my Kestrel using Tapatalk
Johnson is as responsible for the losses as he was for the victories he led us to before he left. He deservedly got criticised when things were going badly but I think to say he had no impact on our turnaround whatsoever and it was all down to Hecky is wrong given that we got the first six consecutive wins of our fantastic second half of the season under him and started the momentum that Hecky has carried on since
In short, Johnson was handed a winning team by Hecky and Bunny, and handed Hecky a winning team back. Good and bad inbetween for Johnson with a record breaking losing run and embarrassing cup exit at Altrincham at one extreme, and leading the reds to a Wembley final at the other.
