Not too much mention of Conor today but I thought he had a really good game. He held the midfield together whilst still doing a lot of defensive work. His energy level was top class. Good to have him back and he demonstrated how much he has been missed.
Definitely added a bit of calm and composure. He's great at reading the game and is always exactly where he is needed at the right time whilst making it all look effortless.
And his captainship has really improved and got the team going. Did anyone see him giving Marley a rollicking for poor marking at a Burton corner in the 1st half.
He is a legend in my eyes already. I love his composure and all round ability. Will be gutted if he leaves.
Did a massive amount of defensive work today. Dyer was a handful and Bree coped well. Conor was always there to back him up, or pick up the loose ball. Did a lot of dirty work today to ensure we left with at least a point. Super display.
Best midfielder since Higgy but I don't think someone can become a legend in less than two and a half years on the first contract they signed with us. Got to be around longer and sign another contract first. He does a great job protecting the back four but it stops us having his goal threat as much going forward with now 1 in 11. If we lost him we'd not be able to replace him to anywhere near the same standard.
I didn't go and I didn't watch the game online, so I suppose I shouldn't really comment. However, I've just read this about Conor Hourihane in another thread "He just added to a scatter gun panic appraoch (sic)..." I love him too but I'm amazed how people's opinions can differ so much. Surely he's one of the best midfielders in the Championship, on current form. How people can criticise him is beyond me.
Hignett is pretty much a legend despite not hanging round long as is Ashley Ward. Conor is the best midfielder we've had in years and one of the best players in his position in the league. The blind will never see it but that's because they choose not to.
