The light up your phone idea is great, let's all do it for the forthcoming matches against Wigan and Forest. But let's raise some money for a great cause as well by donating to MacMillan Cancer Support. I know from first-hand experience (my wife was diagnosed with cancer four years ago, but following extensive treatment is now well on the way to recovery) that MacMillan provide great support, both emotionally and financially, to cancer sufferers and their friends and relatives. So light up your phone for Patrick, but help a great cause as well by donating at:

    www.justgiving.com/fundraising/BFCforPatrick

If we all give a quid, we'll raise a lot of money for a great cause.

No experience of Marie Curie, but nothing but praise for MacMillan; please donate if you can and spread the word, thanks.

Think it's admiral that you've set this up, but with respect, I prefer to donate to who and when at my own choosing. MacMillan Cancer Support is a great charity and did a tremendous job working with my family. Good luck with this collection.

    Re: Excellent idea

I feel the same. Donating to a cancer charity and to helping get a big flag made are broth brilliant ideas but what I would say is......

    1) Keep the flag and phone ideas until the Forest match so Patrick can see it live as it happens if he's watching it from home on TV.

    2) For the Wigan game chanting his name would work better if he is to be listening to it on Barnsley Player at home.

    3) As for donating to a cancer charity it would be better to donate to the place that's helping him the most for whichever cancer he's receiving treat for. But I can see why that might be difficult because it's a private matter where he's being treated and what for. Basically a nice big Barnsley FC fan donation as a thank you to those helping him beat this horrible illness personally.

Patrick gets a live video of every game sent to his home so he can watch all our games as well as listen.

MacMillan are a fantastic charity who I donate to directly from my salary every month. I'll be adding a few extra quid to the pot to help with this fund raising.

Site admin - any chance of making this a sticky? - anything we raise will go to MacMillan Cancer Support, who from my personal experience provide much-needed support for cancer sufferes and their families and friends.
