Are defamation laws different in America? Donald trump repeatedly states in public that Hilary Clinton is a crook but the FBI have twice said she isn't. Surely he should be done for libel and slander? He does he get away with it? I really don't understand that.

they are probably keeping quiet because she is probably a crook and they are trying their best to keep the lid on the can of worms.

I still think there is more to come from these accusations. Time will tell just how crooked old Hilary really is.

As for defamation laws I would imagine that the most litigious nation on Earth have them covered.

To be fair you would imagine Trump to be equally corrupt.

It's an election that you want no one to win. He's completely terrifying and would probably drag us into major global conflicts. She's about as warm as a corpse. Shame Obama can't stay on due to them both being cnuts.

You're right JC, talk about choice. It must be like choosing between a kick in the nuts or drinking some pi55.
On the Clinton front I really do have serious concerns about relationships with Russia if she wins. Either way I think it's going to be a bumpy ride.

I'll tell you who I wish was running - Michelle Obama. I find her captivating to listen to. She is everything that Clinton and Trump aren't.

Definitely. If Michelle Obama was running it would be a landslide victory. It would if Bernie sanders was running too. God knows how Clinton beat him to the polls

I still think that had Ted Cruz got the Republican nomination he'd have beaten Clinton relatively easily. I genuinely cannot understand how Clinton and Trump are deemed to be the best candidates from the two biggest parties in the US.

One thing that Trump is right about is that vested interests work towards maintaining the status quo in US Politics. I guess ideas about the military industrial complex aren't too far wrong. In any fair contest Sanders would have walked the nomination. Principled and thoughtful.

The defamation laws are different in America, but not in the way you might think. In fact, the first amendment of the US constitution guarantees free speech rights. American celebrities were using the British courts to sue for libel under our laws. The US Government had to introduce a new law to stop this 'libel tourism' because it was undermining their constitution. So Americans can, by and large, say what they want about each other. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...-counter-libel-tourism-in-British-courts.html

The more I see about this election, the more convinced I am that America is a third world country with a first world economy.

I think Condoleezza Rice would have been a good option.

Most recent estimates have 75 current, active lawsuits against Donald Trump/The Trump Organisation; charges ranging from the obscene to the fraudulent. Hillary has been the subject of an FBI investigation into use of a private email server for official communications. They have found no criminal activity was involved. And yet, that orange, boorish, xenophobic, racist, mysogynistic, bullying coward of a man has managed to make it stick among his braindead supporters that she's the 'crook'. It beggars belief.
