Lessopeso. Good on Alfie. Although part of me is peeved he gets recognition after two Premier League games with Swansea but was ignored as a Barnsley player. Especially when two of the back four he's playing with tonight feature in a Wolves defence we stuck four goals past!
Agree. But I guess to the outside world, Alfie was essentially a promising League One defender who had just started to gain Championship experience before we sold him. Now he can claim to have excelled in the Championship and had Premiership experience, which always sounds better when selecting an England team! Same with Hourihane. Say he went to Everton or Middlesbrough or whoever in January and started ten games for them, he'd be in the Ireland team by June.
Here is the report of the match, a 3-2 defeat against France http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37896448 It only mentions Alfie as being in the team at number six, playing the whole game. Well done Alfie!
Could be wrong but hasn't he now had three starts for Swansea and one for England Under 21s and been involved now in three consecutive games that his team has conceeded three goals and scored an own goal? Not bad if you can get in the national team with that kind of record when for us he was brilliant but ignored. I understand the difference in level of play but it's still odd.
