Needs to be more positive. 7/10 performance but too often looks back when he could turn and provide much needed forward impetus.

    9/10 for effort.

    2/10 for ability.

Agreed, particularly in games like that. Hourihane likes to sit and dictate. Scowen needs to push on.

Same could be said of Hourihane today.

Still another point on the total.

Thought Perkins hed a decent game for them.

Thought that was one of Josh's better games and that he was the one most willing to look forward instead of sideways.
    Opinions, eh?

He was far too deep far too often, being the player receiving the worst pass in football, the one where the defender passes it into the feet of a midfielder facing his own goal usually with players on him.

Best example was an inexplicable pass to Scowen by Jackson virtually inside his own box

I have thought Scowen has looked out of his depth in this league. Though today, against an obviously struggling team, he didn't.

In my opinion Josh is right for this league. Wins tackles, ability to drive forward, pops up with the odd goal, breaks up play, plays a simple pass, lion heart and a passion for the club.

I love Josh to bits but he was pretty poor today.

When he's got the ball he's too slow pushing forward so the opposition all end up getting back. Or he looks like being positive then turns his back to whoever is marking him and passes backwards so we lose momentum. Can't fault his effort but Morsy should be back in Friday.

He was MOM for me. Opinions eh!

When they announced the winner today, I thought we had gone back to the tea ladies grandson picking it.

All opinions, as said above. But for me Josh would be one of the first names on the teamsheet every week.

It seems to me that some people have short memories, because throughout our final struggling seasons in the Championship and in League One up to about this time last year our lamentable defensive frailties were exacerbated by a lack of protection from the midfield. With (today) Marley and Kent as attacking midfielders, Hourihane and Scowen must be in there to first and foremost shield the defence. If that is done successfully, and opportunity permits, then sure - they'll get forward and support the attack. But the defensive side of Josh's game must be very important. It's not that long since he was pressed into service as an emergency right back.

The way Josh positions himself - nearly always on the right side of the opponent - he reminds me of Darren Sheridan. I think that he does a lot of heavy lifting, but the nature of his game means that his contribution isn't always appreciated. I think that much the same happened with Josh Brownhill last year. Another cracking player and anchor.

I thought Scowen had a very good game, and for me the midfield is him, Conor and two others.

I remember him not getting in last season for a far more positive Brownhill

I thought Josh was one of our better players today.

Brownhill scored 3 goals for us in 25 appearances. To date, Scowen has scored 8 goals for us from 39 appearances. I don't have the figures for assists. So far as not getting in is concerned, Scowen had a lengthy injury absence last season during which the team found winning form. So he naturally had to wait his turn to get back in the side. I liked Josh Brownhill, but I like Scowen even more.

I thought Scowen was great today, put in some much needed tackles and attempted to get forward a few times. He was one of my MotM along with Yiadom.

Me too. I also had Scowen and Yiadom as my men of the match. Looks like people with **** phones know the most about football. ;)

I really like Josh in some ways he's my favourite player. The problem I have if we play a midfield two I don't see him as a particularly good partner for Hourihane and given his quality you have to play to Conor's strengths. I don't think Brownhill is a better player than Josh but I think he worked better with Conor. It's about partnerships isn't it? Winnall and Watkins are our best partnership whether they are our best forwards is more debateable.
