Verdict never in doubt. Hopefully he gets some very unpleasant treatment inside.

The guy clearly has mental health issues - and despite the horror of the crime I honestly can't see someone who killed a politician being singled out for harassment by either officers or fellow prisoners.

However his mental health could well mean his stay is very unpleasant.

Well he should be singled out for attacking a young, defenceless woman and mother, regardless of whether she was a politician or not

Pretty cut & dried case. Hope he dies inside. Racist lovely person. Yes, he has mental health issues. He's a racist.

Mental health is a week excuse for this, he is a nazi, a terrorist. He is no different to the murderer of Lee Rigby except from when you're a Muslim you're a terrorist and when you're White British you're a mental health suffering loner. An event like this really isn't surprising unfortunately with the amount of irresponsible bile spouted out by our right wing press brainwashing people. The world is a ***** place at the minute and it's worrying that people like him feel empowered by groups like Britain First and the media. We've seen it in Britain, we're seeing it in the USA and it looks like we'll see it in France next.

Just a shame he didn't plead guilty and save the taxpayer at least a £M.

    Singled out by whom exactly?

I don't for one second think this guy should be spared the Rope....

But are you saying the murderers of small children should single him out.

Or those that shoot coppers in bank robberies.

Or those that steal christmas presents

    Or those that rape grannies.

Or those that sell drugs to school children.

I'm not really aware of the profile of the kind of prisoner he will be keeping company with - but I can hardly see Ian Huntley giving him a hard time.

Harold Shipman would have made a great cell mate for him - but that opportunity has past.

Good point - I think you've found a couple of people who might single him out. He should be put in a cell with Lee Rigby's killers. And the first night be put on pay per view.

I don't care who singles him out, as long as he gets a good kicking to be honest mate

Another case of the tax payer stumping up for a trial that was stupidly obvious. The legal profession just love our country.

Don't be daft. Of course it could have never gone any other way but are you really advocating to get rid of the right to a trial?

    Not really.
The right wing press are only reflecting millions of peoples views.
In just a few years we have been inundated by eastern Europeans and to add to this there is the Islamist threat and their diabolical actions.
This guy Mair has carried out what many people are thinking these days.
There are loads of people out there that would carry out similar actions if they thought they could get away with it.
Hence voting for Brexit and Trump.
Unless politician get to grips with immigration and stamp out the Islamist threat then people like Mair will increasingly come out of the woodwork.

Do we really need to drag these things out as long as we do though. The monster did it 100%, the rest is set up for the professionals to whet their beaks

There is a big difference between doing it and the prosecution presenting enough evidence to convince a jury beyond reasonable doubt. There is also the question of his sanity, and whether that or any other kind of provocation could be used to mitigate his sentence. We are no longer in Victorian times (much as a chunk of the populace wish we were) and cannot just stick someone in a box for the next 40 years without going through the process.
