That's not the BBC's words though is it? They are the words of Paul Johnson, the director of the IFS think tank, hence the quotation marks.

    Ah! the IFS...

allegedly independent but funded by various Govt departments and......the EUROPEAN UNION!!! - The proportion the IFS gets from the EU has increased in recent years - from 5.9% of funding in 2009 to 11% in 2014. Very pro EU in spite of protestations to the contrary.

Actually though the IFS is misquoted in the main headline having left out two important qualifying words ' ...for growth..'.

This is not the same as 'worse living standards' is it? More BBC misreporting. If things have been this bad for so long and we have racked up massive debt (lower than Japan incidentally which is seen as a success) whilst in the EU, why are so many so sure we should stay in. Not exactly been a roaring success has it?

Please don't let facts get in the way of things. Everybody (17/47 million) has had enough of the experts. The people (17/47 million) have spoken.

    Re: Ah! the IFS...

How can I say this??.... err.......Yes. the problem is Economics is the least scientific of the sciences and all based on supposition and guesswork. The laws, processes, environment are constantly changing and you cannot use modelling to any degree of accuracy. It is not that far removed from Astrology. Nor has the IFS represented value for money except for those quoting their reports for propoganda purposes as they have got many predictions badly wrong.

In fairness, particularly in this instance it is not entirely the fault of the IFS as the BBC distorted the headline by omitting two key words from the original quote.

Do you have any sort of qualification in economics or finance to be able to counter what the experts are saying?

    What degree do you have?

Well most people who voted out didn't have the experience or knowledge of how international trade or the EU works. They were feed lies by that traitor Farage. It was a much too complicated issue for the uneducated to decide on.

I haven't met one yet who who has a clue what they voted for. They will certainly pay the price now for many years to come.

That hypocritical frog-faced puss-bag is one of the few people I would happily do time for.... along with Johnson and Gove.

If hes a man of the people, can I be a man of the millionaire-inheriting elite please?

As with all these so-called "expert" economists, they look at it from an overall point of view, as if the strength of an economy is the be all end all of how people are living.

Compared to when I was being brought up in the 80's, when quite a few basic things were beyond our means, I feel like I'm living like a king now.

It's probably more to do with graduates not all falling into the jobs they want, whereas truly hard working people (graduates to those with little education) will find their own way in life.

The days of having a house wife and being able to sit in the pub for four hours every day after work are long gone, and so they should be.
