Right, this flag surfing thingy tonight! The latest plan is to surf the flag starting at the west end of the Ponty, in the corner where it meets the West Stand. the flag will travel along the Ponty behind the goal, then it will transfer to the East Stand and surf along there towards the away end. Once there, it will be spread out over the unused seats in view of the cameras. This will give as many people as possible a chance to see the flag. The question is, how long will this take? I reckon it's about 180m in total and will take about 10 minutes, so if we start it at 7:30 it should be complete in time for kick off. Alternatively, we could start it when the entrance music starts, so the surfing is taking place as the players enter the field, but that might be tight and the flag might not arrive at its destination before the match starts, so it will block people's view. We're interested in everyone's views but please remember it's not possible to please everybody. I'm taking the flag to the club this aft so the plan will be approved by them so the security people know about it. Anyone sitting towards the away end of the East Stand Lower please stuff some bits of string in your pockets to tie the flag down!
But will there be anybody in the Ponty End at 7.30? Not enough to pass a flag over their heads I would suggest. I would start at 1943 precisely.
I think it should be going round when the players are coming out. Remember for an evening game people tend to get in late due to work commitments and you'll need it pretty full to get it going properly. Easy for me to say though sat in the West Stand where it won't affect my view at all.
Ok, Total distance 200yds, I'll round that up to 1/8 mile. If we assume a speed of 1mph that equates to 7min 30sec. Allowing and extra couple of minutes to get it from the Ponty to the East stand gives 9min 30sec. 10 minutes aught to do it. Add 10 minutes to get it into position at the start, we need to be there at least 20 minutes before kick-off.
What's with all these archaic units????? I agree with allowing about 10 minutes though. I'll be in position at the end of the east stand at about 7:27....
FFS are we planning for Brexit or just flying a flag here! Just chuck it on peoples heads at about half seven, it'll work its self out.
What abart unfurling the flag at half time - a) most people will be in situ b) novel half time entertainment for the crowd c) will give sky summat to talk abart at half time if the game's poor
how about asking permission for it to go onto the pitch and lay it on the centre circle during half time? Just a thought?
have you thought about contacting SKY sports and telling them about the flag and its meanings.... The show starts at 7PM if it were to be done at 7:30pm, with their knowledge then they may well say summat about it and its meanings on air.... when other clubs do protests or clapping at a certain minute of the game to show respect for something they seem to high light that, just a thought matey.
5 minutes before kick-off or there will not be enough people in the ground to ensure the flag flows freely and easy.
or maybe have it on the pitch at the start and then at 7:30pm take it to the empty part of the north stand , just a suggestion... but tweet Sky sports to tell them of the significance
7.40 is abart reight.....you'll be amazed how quick it moves along when some miserable bu66er is moaning that they can't see owt
Re: or maybe Tweet done. To sky sports, sky football, and sky championship. They will get the message!

Re: have you thought about I emailed Sky Sports yesterday, explaining the meaning behind the flag. No reply.
maybe tweet the show as someon has suggested... hope it gets some decent coverage as its well deserved by both men....thanks for getting it going fella. Will it be used at all home games maybe the passing about might get on some folks nerves, but to cover the empty seats at the away end might be good.
Re: maybe tweet the show I'm not on Twitter but ikkle_tyke has tweeted them, so hopefully they will get the message. As far as future home games is concerned, it's not for me to say what should happen, as the flag is a joint effort and it will have to be a consensus that decides. Let's see how tonight goes first.
