Tommy Wright is pure conjecture as it's very difficult to measure his influence. Brownhill would definitely be useful to have in the squad but I'm not sure how much difference he'd be making overall. Mawson and Fletcher - can't argue with that. We looked quite one-dimensional up front, and Roberts clearly needs a ball-player alongside him.
Isgrove. I didn't appreciate him enough at the time. Now he's gone we really miss him. Brownhill because him and Conor are a great partnership. Mawson we didn't bother to replace which in retrospect was a massive mistake. Fletcher was pretty impossible to replace given our budget but we tried with Armstrong. Tommy Wright m not sure to be honest it's impossible to know. Impetus and momentum took us through the first part of the season. Confidence was high it's faded now and the relegation struggle we all knew we would have is here. We have to dig in and stick by the team. It's still very much a work in progress and not quite as good as the one that won the play off final. In terms of Isgrove and Brownhill I'd go back to them in January and see if they are enjoying not playing.
As been pointed out many times, Tommy Wright was also part of the management team that led us on our worse run of defeats in decades. And didn't he want to sell us out for 5 grand?
if you listen to the tape he was entrapped in, he says "this isnt for me ,its for the club ,we need to progress and this is a way of getting players in", Tommy knew our young lads needed some help in this league also its the agents who are pressing for the cash for Tommy ,dont think Tommy once asks for it ,just a pity he was entrapped by the gutter press As for the longest losing run ,Tommy was dominated in how the team were allowed to play by L J, where as him and hecky was more of a partnership, feel the players miss Tommy he was a mans man ,must have loved our lads to turn L J cash down, infact it is so shocking what happened to him, when he turned down L J's money move to Bristol to stay with us,he obviously valued us more than cash,so I cant believe he wanted a poxy 5 grand above wanting better players for us to progress
The more I think about about it I think of all the people we are missing Tommy Wright is the one. We've dropped off without him. Is there any way of taking him back?
Tommy Wright is a Championship coach but totally agree, no matter who it is, it was a sackable offence of what he did.
We caved in to the Torygraph who in the final analysis were looking to extend the Alardyce scandal and had next to nowt. He explained his reasons and they went above the £5000, although I agree it was a mistake, but enough to deprive him of his living and us of an excellent coach? We could have fined him four times that amount and teach him a lesson. I'd bring him back, we've not been good since he left.
