Where we lost 6-1, played really well for 90 minutes, had more shots on target, but every time Tranmere attacked they scored? Came to mind in the car park discussion last night. 1994? Aldridge got 4 or 5? Not really comparing the relative quality of the teams, I think man for man the 94 side was better, but just to show that freak results-play well happen every so often.
Yes I went to that game.It was very hard the following morning telling people we were the better team.21 goal attempts and lost 6-1
I remember that game well. We got delayed on the motorway so were already 2 down before we arrived. I then missed another one going for a pee, missed one going for my half time cuppa and missed the last one because we had had enough and were already on the motorway home. So there were 7 goals in the game and I only saw 2 of them
Yes, it was one of the best performances of the season. A total fluke from their point of view. I believe even their manager admitted afterwards that they'd been outclassed. Distant foggy memory though...
I do and didn't we have a decent run of form after that? I remember Danny Wilson saying he didn't think we'd done anything wrong and it was just one of those days.
Yup. Lived just outside Chester at the time and away tickets were limited while they were rebuilding one of the stands so I ended up in the home stand. It was probably 93-94 or winter 94-95 because I moved back to town in January 95.
Remember it well, it was bizarre. We'd kept 4 clean sheets in the 4 matches prior and 3 clean sheets in the 3 matches after, so only conceded 6 goals in 8 games, they just all happened to be in the same match. We hammered them and lost 6-1! We finished the season 6th.
That was a weird one we were absolutely dominant throughout. Friday wasn't quite the same but it had echoes of the Tranmere game.
If I remember right it was the only match that didnt make it onto the End of Season video. 01-Nov-1994 A Tranmere Rovers 1 - 6 5,592 Rammell 67 (Aldridge 24,29,58,83, Malkin 48,89)
