I was playing cricket at Stainborough against Darfield on that day. We had a huge great radio on the boundary blasting out the commentary. We were fielding, the Darfield lads were batting. I remember celebrating each goal by going ballistic, and some of the Darfield lads invading the pitch, and we all had a group hugging session.

The umpires were less than enthusiastic about this behaviour. What a day!

You could also have added Andy Gray to your list of those privileged enough to have their birthday on this special day.

I was at St Andrews, a mate at work (Blues season ticket holder) got me the ticket. With the home fans. Most unpleasant experience. I persuaded a steward to let me go in the away end at halftime.

What a day that was, loved it. The scenes at the end of that game with the
Pitch Invasion still lives in my memory.

I thought St George - if that is who you mean - was a Roman soldier of Greek origin
