Manchester City lead chase as big clubs vie for classy Barnsley right back James Bree: Aston Villa are keen on the classy right back while Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham and Southampton and Man United have also monitored his progress. Big spending Manchester City are leading the Premier League chase for Barnsley defender James Bree. Manchester United, City, Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham and Southampton have all been monitoring the 19-year-old’s progress this season. Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is ready to make a £4m move after watching Bree in the FA Cup at Blackpool this weekend. But City are unlikely to sit back and allow Bree to go to Villa and the Premier League giants are all ready to pounce for the classy right back who can also play midfield. There are clear similarities with Manchester City’s England defender John Stones who started at Barnsley before moving to Everton. Bree made his debut in May 2014 and has made rapid progress ever since with Premier League scouts watching him week in and week out. Villa are keen to do a deal but the Premier League big guns will move quickly if Barnsley decide to sell.
Similarities between James Bree and John stones 1. They both played for Barnsley 2. They both have cocks End of similarities
Bree is the magic number. James Bree is an anagram of jam breese and John Stones once got stuck in a traffic jam on a windy day.
Bree is, to use a Keith-ism, a Rolls Royce of a footballer. In today's prices, he is worth a hell of a lot more than 3m quid
And you have for got to mention they are both very very good footballers, both came through the Barnsley academy " which is now making a name for its self".
I think that was first said by Bobby Hassell in his article in the Chronicle- and he wasn't wrong there when he referred to Stones. And it was soon after Stones was sold that I think PC said that we have a young player at the club better than Stones a young player called Bree.
Bree will be stockpiled with the rest of the young uns' . Hate the Premier teams for doing this. Should have a limit on the numbers they can hold!!!!
on purely footballing terms, i think it would be crackers for him to go to city. obviously it's a huge pull, but he must realise he's gonna get very little first team football there. same with tottingham and united. pointless for me. i've heard southampton mentioned. i think they could be a really good fit for him. obviously he'll go at the end of his contract, and to be honest i genuinely don't think he's as critical for this season, as hourihane or roberts. i think right now, £4m is very good money and it would be unfair to deny the lad a move as well.
I don't doubt he'll go. If not this window, probably end of season. I just hope he picks the right club Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
