Heard so many times this week that we're continuing to pay League One wages to our players. I'd be very surprised if Winnall et al didn't have clauses in their contracts that gave them a pay rise when we got promoted. They were happy to sign them deals when they were agreed and should honour them now, unlike the snake that threw his teddy out of the cot at the first opportunity. No respect whatsoever for players that force a move, he could easily have gone in 6 months but couldn't wait to go.

£500k is laughable - but better than nowt
And we would have got exactly nowt in the summer when he left
According to Hourihane comments - it seems Amateurish contract negotiations have taken place at the club - that's where the fault lies

When did hourhine say this? And what can the club do if winnall forced a move from even before the transfer window has opened. First thing he has done when the deal went through I'd thank his agent for making it happen and state that he can't wait to help swfc get back to were they belong! He had to be prompTed to send out a scripted msg to bfc fans!! We can compete with wendsday on wages simple but the way winnall has gone about it is wrong.

Last week Hourihane said negotiations could/should have been done in the summer

Negotiations should have been done the day after Wembley.

But in the summer he didn't want to talk about a new deal. Both him and sam winnall didn't so we heard.

In cases like this then they are put up for sale there and then - or like I explained earlier they are put on Serious Garden Leave.
We cannot have players holding the club to ransom and then in the summer jumping ship with the consequence of disrupting the team and undermining months of hard work by Hecky and his backroom team.
I'd rather we had players in the team that were fully committed to Barnsley.
Any others can sit at home and watch Jeremy Kyle.

It's sad that a figure of £500k from an unknown and unproven source gets thrown around as fact by people who just want to use it to bash the club - especially after they continue to ignore other sources who stated that the figure was over £1m. Additionally the club has confirmed that there is at least a sell on fee should Winnall be sold. Same with the contracts as nothing is proven either way, but some people just want to believe the worst, in fact they actively enjoy it. We had weeks and months of bashing the club over John Stones and yet the deal was an excellent one.

You should think through the logic of this. It's clearly daft.

Why do you think that was? Anything to do with the terrible contracts that were on offer to them?

As far as I'm aware with what got said the club didn't even start negotiations with their agents as both players didn't want to at that time. No doubt they both wanted to see how they fared in the championship it's not rockets science even they know they can earn 3 or 4 x as much at villa or Wednesday especially if they go for free or next to nothing....... but don't let me get in the way of slagging the club off

Sorry, but I think you must have imagined this. The club statement said 'a future interest'. That's more likely to be a promotion bonus - which I doubt will happen. Very unlikely there is a sell on clause too.

A clause that gives them a payrise on promotion would be **** to us if you can't extend the contract. Come have a payrise lads so you can continue to run down your contracts but on more money.

And last summer Cryne said that both Hourihane and Winnall had refused to sign new contracts. I believe Cryne.

Commonsense has no place in this debate.
