This is one of the rare occasions where I can say to you "I Agree".

I hope my views have enabled others to look at the situation differently.
Us fans have the duty to hold the feet of the directors to the fire.
Let us also hope that Patrick Cryne reads all of these comments, and although some of the comments may be wrong and wide of the mark, some of them just might hit the target and change the nature of the club to make things BETTER.
We must strive to get the best for Barnsley for the future of the town and the club.

Incorrect. We must strive to get the best for the Yorkshire tykes for the future of the county.

    Thank you
I knew you would come to my rescue with your usual in-depth reasoned response

My point being - people have read the post and haven't a foooking clue how to respond to it.
Which is evidence if ANY evidence is needed that the vast majority on here have nothing to say - that's unless they are throwing abuse

Bows .....and says 'I thank you'

    I for one am devastated.

Plus I thought your "dreadful news" was that you were to post no more.

    That would be dreadful.

There isn't really much there to respond to...

It's posts like this that make Patrick shake his head and wonder why he bothers...

Well I sincerely hope you are WRONG
I do hope PC reads my posts - in fact Whitey reported that he does
And I hope he has a positive reaction to them by thinking:

    1) What a load of crap that is

    2) He has a point there - we need to improve things

I'd like to say this to fellow posters on here - you might not think of yourself as having much value or credible opinions on issues relating to the direction of the club and the directors - basically because Patrick Cryne has built a multi million pound business so he must have all the answers.
    That's WRONG
And PC will be the first to admit it
As said earlier - hold the feet of the directors to the fire

I hope you attend games frequently, as it's support this Club of ours requires. We are (whether you like it or not) currently 10th in our first season back in the second tier with a 14 point gap to the bottom three and to my mind that is a remarkable success story achieved on very limited finance in relation to the vast majority of our divisional competitors. One example being the 84th minute Fulham substitute today being Scott Parker who earns in a week close to what our entire starting XI's wages add up to combined. We cannot and will not compete financially like that. We have to seek out alternative ways to compete, and it's obvious that some of the methods of doing so have already been implemented successfully. We're living within our means. I'm old school in that regard as I believe that's how every club should operate.

You're right in that nobody has all the answers. But I find it incredible to be reading so much criticism of the Club at present. We appeared to be in a right state upon our relegation to L1. We then saw a big change in strategy in terms of recruitment. A couple of years later and we've regained our second tier status having twice been victorious at Wembley, lifting our first ever trophy there, our first cup since 1912. We did it in truly spectacular style and despite big changes and upheaval. Our Barnsley FC is owned by a Barnsley man, our players coached by a Barnsley man with Barnsley folk all around the place. With no debt. 10th in the second tier, 14 points clear of the relegation zone. Still in the FA Cup. About to welcome the best Leeds side in years to Oakwell in front of a near-capacity crowd.

But hammer at the walls. Chip away at the bloke who brought this Club back from the brink. Ignore his illness. Long for big bucks and overshooting yourself. Forget Wembley. Twice. Forget that today was the first defeat in a month against the best side we've faced who had a referee giving them extra and totally unnecessary help. **** all that. Just spout a load of toss on the internet because we're not a big club.

The ones who whinge, certainly those at it right now, they whinge at a time where using the evidence gathered over nearly 130 years, the Club is pretty much at its peak. Look it up. We are by historical record a fair to middling second tier Club. Ignore the one-off year in the top flight. The years in the old fourth division cancel that out. For us to be 10th in the second tier (especially in this modern era) on the budgets we follow is ******* brilliant (innit).

We should all be shouting from the rooftops. Most of us are.

A lad who was an astonishing success for us up front, he's left. Like Currie did. Payton. Wardy. Hignett. Vaz Te. Davies. O'Grady. Etc Etc. We've lost a great servant. We will do again. Stings a bit that he joined Wednesday, naturally so. But adds spice to that rivalry. It's part of football. April Fools Day should be a giggle. Nobody died. Nobody died. If others leave, they - like Wednesday's number 11 - will do so because they want to. If you think football clubs have the power over footballers, you're like Sam Tyler and Gene Hunt and you're in the 1970's. Wake up.

Bit of advice - don't get attached to footballers. Except the very odd exception. Like the absolute diamond we said farewell to on Thursday afternoon. There are others. A recent one had ginger hair. Loyalty in football is as rare as a hair on my ever-expanding forehead. But there are loyal folk at Barnsley FC and they deserve your support. Patrick Cryne in particular.

Long-winded this. I've only been back from Fulham an hour. I've got ale to drink.

That's about the sum of it. I'm pissed off that Sam's gone to Wednesday, that's a kick in the teeth, but looking at where we are now, and how we're doing, I'll take it. It's a damn sight better than most of what I've seen in my life. If Conor goes too, same deal. You f***ing reds.

Brilliant post, old mate. I couldn't agree more. Even more impressive when taking into account the time at which you wrote, then posted, it. I'd been in bed for a couple of hours and sleeping soundly. Having said that, I could never post anything approaching that quality even when fully awake!:D:D
