I've been reading a lot of posts on the subject of responsibilities (of the current staff) and our ability (or potentially the stretched resources) to recruit players. In my experience it's not rocket science, having worked in the recruitment sector for over 25 years. The key is simply knowing who your targets are. I'm sure that the football world is different in some respects to industry, finance, services and other businesses (namely because of agents). However, what they will generally have in common with each other is that once you have identified a target, your only option is to make contact upfront or via third party channels to express an initial proposition. For example, how (your club) feel they (the player/club/representative) may benefit from an initial discussion. Naturally, this is often based on some simple assumptions. Would the player want to increase earnings/professional standing? Do the club need to build relationships with other clubs to support their own ambitions and seek some form of reciprocal deal (loans, development support, incoming transfers or expertise you can share). As long as you have identified your targets, the simple actions are: - Hit the phone. - Start your preliminary discussions. - Get some meetings happening. - Manage the process and close down those opportunities that you don't think will happen within your deadlines/suit your needs. - Tee up the interested parties. - Let Maurice Watkins take care of the contracts and paperwork. If time is your enemy, the only thing you can do is throw more 'qualified' resources at the problem. My name is Wilky and I approve this message! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry pal. Don't think you got my drift, in that the process is simple but it takes up a lot of time. I doubt Hecky has a lot of that spare at the moment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Do I not like that! You can't say anything without a single term or word being derided on here Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I prefer 'cocker' myself, or even better 'cockerspadge'. (Not really but they are funny words). I hope the filter doesn't get that or it may look terrible!
