    Just a thought.

I was thinking about if someone could start up a 'football union' rather than the football league - Where money is king. Where rugby league & union have differences in gameplay, football union has differences in a political way. For instance, wage caps, real financial fairplay (no parachute payments, spend only what you earn, summer transfers May and June only), no loans.

As opposed to the football and premier league which is beyond repair, football union rewards talent and is purely played and watched the enjoyment of the sport of football.

The Premier League might have to reduce its payments to the FA in view of the fact that their revenue for Sports has reduced by 25% in two years.

    I'll do it.
    Rule 1 no hand ball
    Rule 2 no diving
Rule 3 proper tackling is welcomed
    Rule 4 no gloves
Rule 5 refs can be carded

I agree refs should be held properly accountable for their performance. Diving should be red card offence. Tackles should be proper tackles apart from not too dangerous

Instant Red card for anyone surrounding the ref, except for the captain of each side, and they are not allowed to raise their voice or they get a red too.

I think in football nowadays, the refs should be properly mic'd up and assessors should listen to the playback afterwards so they can a) punish any offensive language aimed at referees by players and b) ensure that discussions are taking place in key decisions.

There definitely needs to be accountability and more consistency from refs.

Instead of spending what they earn, each club gets exactly the same budget from the league to pay for playing staff and a set limit to how many players they can have at any one time (30 for a first and reserve team). Managers, coaches and facilities are covered by the admissions/sponsorship/season tickets money.

That would sort out the good managers/coaches from those who can only do it with unlimited budgets.

Exactly the point. Emphasis on development and academies rather than transfers and sales.

Question - Why would any player play in the Football Union, for less money? (which it would be with wage caps)

I guess that's sadly the problem. But if the supporters moved en mass over to 'football union' the salaries of the elite would soon come tumbling. Make no mistake. Never forget the fans have the power.

I've often thought about this sort of thing. Imagine a breakaway association where the world body wasn't crooked, where the national body didn't throw Doncaster Belles out of the top flight because 'it was in their contract that we could do that so I don't know what they're complaining about', an association that didn't employ legal teams to chase youngsters who created fixture list wallpapers, an association that didn't think it was okay for a Championship club to run 20 million loses in a bid to get into the Premier League.

Fans will cut off the money supply to the football league when they realise its only £5 to go to a match rather than £38. Plus travel, refreshments, programs and like.

As long as there is a TV market anywhere in the world then the Premier League will have all the power. The TV rights are worth more than the income from tickets unfortunately.

So TV is the only hurdle? I'm sure that can be easily solved
